OB announcement.....

Anyone try the OB Fusion shafts? Opinions?

Interesting idea, though seems to me it'd be difficult to manufacture reliably (carbon fiber tube clad with wood I believe). For sure more expensive to make than plain carbon fiber and with quality being an issue in the past, it's pretty risky. From my woodworking experience you're asking for problems gluing living, moving wood to a static material.

Maybe not needing to finish the carbon fiber tube nicely, like you would for the other CF shafts, makes it less costly.

To me it just defeats the purpose. One of the major reasons to prefer a CF shaft is that they're relatively dent-proof compared to wood. And I don't know if you'd get the lower deflection that most of these CF shafts have.

I'm another long time subscriber of LD shafts (back to pre-cat 314's), and have & do use OB shafts for a lot of years. Also Cash Cues ferrule-less.
Your results/opinions may vary - more power to you. I thought a lot of Royce & what he brought to market.
Didn't really care anything about their playing cues, still don't. Don't care anything about carbon fiber either. Again... your results may vary.
I hope the best for the new iteration of the OB products.
I would like to continue to have their brand (at good quality) as an option.

I think I'll stick to my solid maple shafts and continue to miss a ball now and then due to the HD properties of maple and ivory ferrules! Sometimes I even cuss when I miss! lol

Why do people like you always feel the need to tell us you like normal shafts. Good for you.. this post has nothing to do with what you prefer and more importantly nobody cares.

That's funny and true. I need to print up some t-shirts that say "I use solid maple pool shafts" or maybe "Got wood?". Bet i'd sell a few. ;)

It’s curious to me that they are going with a white ferrules shaft primarily
And the wood Ferrule is an up charge

Only guessing here but ease of manufacture has gotta be high on the list. Personally i've never liked the wood ferrule. Too mushy/quiet. I had a couple Classic + shafts with white and they played great.

I think you just explained it. The white ferrule is more popular. So they are concentrating on what the people want.

The wood up charge is needed to pay for shipping when the wood ferrule fail or break users will be sending back for replacement.

Great idea!

I wonder if they are caught up yet from all the warranty returns.

I ended up fixing my own defective new shaft instead of sending back.

At least now I know it's right.

I wish them good luck and hopefully they can recognize good quality before sending out.
