Gonna buy one of these soon and would like to hear from those that have used both on their opinions. Thanks.

I can only help with the bk3.......I have had 4 other people try it and one has a bk2....they all liked it and even the guy that owned the bk2 said that it broke better than his and offered to buy mine. mine does have the sport's wrap however and they commented on how they like the feel of that/ hope this helps in your quest.

I prefer the BK3 over the OB break cue, I could never get a consistent break with that cue.
I highly recomend you check out the Mezz powerbreak cue, that to me is the best production break cue, especially if you pair it with the massanranduba cored deep impact pro shaft.

I have tried both, I own OB break but if i have to choose between OB break and BK3, I will go for BK3.

I am in the same boat, debating between these two. I plan to wait a little while though as OB will be releasing new/updated break cues soon.

Prad, is there any particular reason why? Kim Bye, isn't the mezz break cue almost $600?

The regular Power Break is around $ 450 if you want the ash or massanranduba shaft, thats gonna be $ 300 or so extra.
But as with everything else, you get what you pay for...

BK3 anyday, more power imo. And Bk3 costs more. But if I had to choose Mezz Power break 1. it's cheaper!

I'm kinda surprised to hear more about the bk3 than the ob break cue. Is the Mezz break cue similar to the bk3?

Our original OB Break Cue was really designed for control more so than speed.

Most intermediate and down players will benefit more from hitting the front of the rack really square more often than the slight increase in break speed. Especially, if the speed comes with less control, which is usually the case.

We are currently getting ready for production of our new break cue line. We did show them at the BCA Trade show, but they won't be available for a little while yet.

With the new models, there will be a choice of break shafts. One designed more for control, and one more for the speed or power. If you're an accomplished player and don't have a problem with control, then the Speed model is best for you. If you still struggle with hitting the rack really square, then the Control model will give you more benefit.

We're all about choices I guess.

I've used the BK3. It breaks pretty good. However, a friend had the original Gulyassy Sledgehammer jump/break, and I could consistently get at least 1/mph higher on the break speed app with that cue than I do with the BK3 with the same amount of effort. Control and spread seems to be a lot better as well. He asked if I wanted to buy the Sledgehammer for 50 bucks. Sold!

Sweet I can't wait too see the new line up really looking forward too that ob 136 is there anyother cues coming out?

I've had 2 BK3's pass through my hands. Back to using my BK2, just out of personal preference. The BK3 definitely has a better energy transfer than the BK2. Overall, I'd say the BK3 is better in every way except for maybe the feel of the hit. With my BK2, I like the feedback better. The BK3 is almost like a hot knife through butter, before you know it the rack is smashed apart and balls are flying everywhere. I'm not a fan of the sports grip on the BK3, feels too much like a car tire (then again, I have very soft hands). I have tried the new Mezz break cue (Not exactly sure which one, I just know it was one of the new ones) and that thing is a beast. Hits just as hard as the BK3, great balance, great feel, it's just waaaay too expensive. Haven't tried the OB break cue, though. Hope this helps.

Edit: I think it was this one http://mezzcues.us/shop/index.php?m..._id=98&zenid=854bd9639e4346b05198e88813ef7739

I have had both break cues. It's true that the BK3 is able to generate more break speed but it lacks a bit of feel and control to me. OB is the opposite of the BK3. That does not mean the OB Is a complete slouch in the speed department either. When hitting the rack square with both break cues, the OB seems to yield better results when varying break speeds to adjust to a table. OB also has great customer service and they don't make warranty issues a faceless concern. They contribute on the forums and even engage customer service issues on here. Their customer service alone is enough for me to buy their products with confidence.

Thanks for responding everyone. RBC, I normally break from the side rail and hit the head ball square. When doing so, I don't have to put a ton of power in it, just a solid firm hit. In 8 ball I use the 2nd ball break. When I try to break really hard I always lose the cue ball. I'm gonna go and try out both of these break cues again.
