OB classic pro

Have a customer that asked if I could put a longer ferrule on a OB classic pro shaft. I explained about changing the characteristics, loss of LD, etc. He still is interested in doing it. The warrantee is not an issue either, 3-4th owner. Has anyone done it? It would be machining the shaft to accept a longer ferrule, not adding over all length to the shaft. I cannot find any images as to how they are constructed inside and do not want to open a can of worms.
Thanks,
Dave

My thoughts exactly. Lol.

I’m more curious to know the reasoning and also how much more length they are trying to get.

Hi Botz.
That's part of my Why. OB classics are hollow for 1 and 2, Dave stated it was staying the same length. Lol

The customer, for some reason that he didn't explain to me, wants the ferrule to be the same length as his other, custom shafts ferrule. I explained the LD issue, but not sure he understood that it would change the hit quite a bit. I assume that I can machine the ferrule off, and machine the shoulder further down the shaft and make a new ferrule for it, but I have since declined the job at this point. Don't feel comfortable doing it.
Thanks
Dave

Tap, tap Dave

I've regularly turned down jobs, not because I can't do them but because I think it's a stupid thing to do and would not want my name attached to it. The customer is always right, but the craftsman's prerogative is choosing who to turn into a customer, regardless the craft you choose. Occasionally they get angry and threatening..."I'll never call you for anything again!!" And for that, I sincerely thank them and wish them well. Fortunately most are pretty reasonable, understand the issues involved, and we converge on a better solution that really solves their problem.
