OB Rift Break Cue

Looks very interesting. Will the speed break and controlled break shafts be available separately? I really like the speed break since I have been looking for a "classic" version of the break shaft for a while. :)
When will they be available from retailers (seyberts, etc.)?

$470. They must be out there Fuc71ng mind.

That price is in line with their competition and likely incorporates the cost of r&d. I imagine r&d is more costly for break cues than playing cues mostly because it is for one cue and not a whole line.

If I was in the market for a jump cue I would be interested in the lift but for now I'll prolly just stick to either my break cue shaft or my Poison jump cue if people complain about me using half a stick to jump.

I have to agree with you on this one. Not doubting that the OB breaker would be awesome but I would have a hard time paying that kind of money for a blue stained decaled cue. It's the reason I never bought a predator break cue too.

Personally I can order a break cue with my choice of wood and specs for that kind of money at $400 or whatever it is.

Using cues from OB's site that are similarly priced to the Rift msrp and comparing those models pricing from online retailers I suspect you can get the no wrap for roughly $330 and the wrapped for $380. That puts each cue cheaper than the BK3 by $70. Also, note a recent thread claiming Predator is raising all pricing so the OB Rift might come in closer to $100 cheaper than it's competitor. For an American designed and made break cue I personally don't think the Rift's msrp is that unreasonable.

Funny thing is I watched Cory Duel break with this cue for 2 days and it never came to me to ask about it. He used it in Beloit.
Here are my thoughts on break cues:

Based on what I just saw on pool dawg, it looks like the wrapless will run about 350 and the wrapped 400. That seems competitive with how predator typically prices their stuff before the price hike.

as for the blue, i have the lift pro jump cue, and actually love the blue stain. not sure why, it's just one of those things that caught my eye when i saw it.

I love OB, but I just cannot stand cues with writing on them. So tacky and cheap looking.

trying to find what the difference in between the two different shafts are. the website doesn't explain them. can someone help. I break with a ob and by far the best break cue I have ever own and I have owned lots of custom ones too

The difference is listed on the website here: http://www.obcues.com/products/OB-Rift-No-Wrap-Break-Cue.html

Speed Break shaft is 13.25mm with a white linen melamine ferrule and a very hard phenolic tip

Control Break shaft is 13mm with our laminated maple ferrule and a hard Samsara leather tip

Let me know if you have any other questions about the new cues.

Shane or Rouce,

I'm assuming the Speed shaft is a solid core like your Classic shafts but was wondering if the Control shaft had the sound dampening rubber core?

I am interested in this info as well.

Also will the speed shaft have same taper as the classic XL+, just a different ferrule and tip?
