Oh noooooo, its a 'Polar Vortex'!!!!!.....;)

Here in the Snow Hole we're experiencing warmer than normal temps which after getting the snow storms we have received we're getting flash flooding in some places , with some ponds and lakes the ice is now covered with water with snow which can create new dangers for anyone who may try ice fishing on those bodies of water .

As for cold temps any temp below zero is miserable to say the least , then add to it the fact you need to work out in it just makes it a bit more bearable when you realise the faster you more the warmer you stay as long as you don't start to sweat then it's dangerous .

I've been out and worked in temps around -40 / -60 below zero in North Eastern Montana back in the 60's , 70's and early 1980's , save your fingertips and my time ha ha it was miserable but had to be done and you learned to dress for those conditions and for the most part here in Montana it's a high alpine desert type of cold so that the humidity isn't such a big factor .

While working on a livestock water well and I broke the pipe joints & the water would start spraying it would hit my coat ,then fall to the ground as it froze literally on contact ha ha not my idea of a good time !
Or trying to spit the Copenhagen out of your mouth while feeding cows and it's frozen before it gets 5" past your lips and you and the guy your helping feed cows with laugh about it !
Wool is your friend and cotton blue jeans aren't if they get wet & start freezing up ha ha

I'm waiting for the MN DNR to order ice houses off the lakes. The deadlines for "permanent" houses are 3/3 and 3/17. After that you can't leave them overnight.
Easy to find a thin spot when it's been this warm and sunny. Will start hearing about vehicles falling through soon... I'm terrified of ice so i never drive my truck out (there could be 10' of ice and I still wouldn't). Have always taken the sled or ATV.

I was in Prince Albert SASK when it was 25 below F…I decide to walk about five blocks to the pool hall….a dry cold on the prairies isn’t so bad. I felt colder in Atlantic City at two below on the boardwalk…that salt air never freezes.
Agreed. -25 around here is very tolerable, we hike outside in that temperature regularly (assuming the wind is not crazy). My winters in Toronto (1983-89) often felt much worse, the cold blows right into your bones it seemed.

I think your PA experience was at the big tournament, correct ? We were just discussing that event at the hall the other day, how folks like Johnny Archer and Mike Massey came to town expecting to walk all over the prairie hacks only to learn there were some pretty good players in the frozen north.

We had a sales meeting here in Saskatoon in a 1980s February with folks from all across North America. Some guys from Atlanta & Florida had a rental car that they left running all day in the parking lots .... wimps !
