Well, Chris Williams of the Central Ohio BCA has done a pretty good job of acquiring an excellent venue and organizing a pretty large tournament. The state's got underway Thursday evening with a night full of mini-tournaments. Friday kicked off the team and singles events with great players such as Dee Adkins, Ryan Stone and Ben Zimmer competing. The pro-event, although not as organized as it could be, started yesterday with pros such as Chris Bartrum, Shawn Putnam, Nick Varner with Adam Smith, Shannon Murphy and other great players throwing their money in play. As of a few hours ago, Chris Bartrum was still in the lead at 2 under, with Shawn Putnam gaining some ground on him. I personally got to watch Shannon Murphy play, this is the fifth or sixth time I've had the opportunity to watch him in person, and this kid plays lights out and shoots a pretty impressive game. The venue this all is being held in is the practice facility for the Columbus Destroyers arena football team. We'll try and get some pics up, but all of the bar tables are set up on the turf, its an interesting sight to see. Hopefully some of you will be able to see some of the pro-event, AZ billiards was there recording. Well, i know its not a great synapsis, but this is a layout of the event. I'll try and post some results tomorrow when i'm over there.

It was nice meeting you at the venue on Friday. Our team just got in the money but lost a hill hill heartbreaker against the Fiddlesticks team that has Bryan Frank and Ben Zimmer playing for them. We had a great chance but things did not go our way.

The tournament was good. Hopefully they will get the singles and the team events better organized but the venue was nice and the Diamond tables were great.

Just to add to Mojoes post the Fiddlestix team took first place. Caddyshack the Columbus team took second. With Kobra Ki the Dayton team taking third.

I finally left the venue at 9:30 PM after my sister in law took second in the singles. My brother took 9-12 in the singles, myself 17-24.

The field in the Mens teams was 90+. The Mens singles capped out at 96. The womens was small at around a dozen.

The singles matches had to wait on players playing their team matches. Most players teams that are in the losers bracket play match after match 2 hours apart. Some players told to arrive Saturday at 10 AM waited all day and in the end didn't play that day. After Fiddlestix won two matches to take it all, eight players in the singles who were left had yet to play.

The heartbreak of losing to Fiddlestix lies on my shoulders. With the match tied at nine I broke and made three stripes on the break. I missed the last ball before the eight in a runout trying to hold up whitey I left the thirteen in the jaws as it lost its speed. My brother won his game to force a one game playoff in which we narrowly lost on a small pocket.

By the way it was nice to meet both Beav and SloRoller at the event. I didn't get a chance to watch the pros in action but I got the chance to talk to Dee Adkins, Shawn Putnam, Frank Ruby, and Nick Varner.

MoJoe and my brother both won sticks in raffles. Lucky dogs!

I'll contribute more later, gotta go to work!

Hearing that is bittersweet. It is nice to know that we were soooo close and it hurts at the same time.

No worries, no one played perfect pool. It just was not meant to be this weekend. There's always next year, Lord willing!

I forgot to ask you during the heat of competition how did that new Schuler cue play? The results convinced your opponents! :D
