Ok....time for suggestions.

I've been having problems with my game lately....I'm either over hitting, or under hitting everything....the only reason I've gotten out recently is just pure shot making ability.

Granted, I haven't been putting in the practice time I usually do, and I'm sure that's the biggest reason for my poor play.

I need help getting back on track, and hopefully reducing my once previous practice time from about 15 hours a week, to something a touch more manageable.

Any ideas?

I don't know much. But, one thing I do know is that MY speed is controlled subliminally by reflex. The one and only thing that improves it is table time.

Don't get me wrong....

I've been putting in table time, just not practice time.....I've been playing a lot, but I haven't been playing what I consider "well".

I usually play (against an opponent) for at least 7 hours a week.

Relax..This just shows your mortal like the rest of us. There is no one that has a great day everyday. Is there anything going on emotionally that is upsetting you? If the answer is no, then take some time off and rest. You can easily stress yourself by playing/ practicing too often. When playing a stronger player than myself, I can feel the stress coming on and have to remind myself to relax and just play my best. Be sure and go back to the basics after you have rested, this is the cornerstone to help you move through this phase. Good Luck!

For speed control practice, I break all 15 balls, then hit each shot so the object ball stops just before the pocket, but does not go into the pocket.

Also I practice shooting the cue ball only; 1/2 diamond, 1 diamond, 2, 3, 4, etc. 1 rail plus 1 diamond, 2, 3, 4, etc.

And that is a good point about being relaxed -vs- being stressed out. If I'm stressed out, I won't even try the above since I won't have the patience...

That's an interesting practice, but I'd be concerned about inadvertantly training my touch to come up just short on soft shots! I'd feel better about practicing just barely rolling the ball into the pocket -- not stopping on the lip. Unless maybe you play 8-ball. Even in One Pocket, "pocket speed" should drop into the hole, note tease you by hanging on the lip! JMHO
