Old Adam butt screw question

Kobachi

Scarred but Smarter
Picked up an Adam Lufthansa this morning. Was wondering if any of the cue builders here know if this screw is removable so I can attempt to put a replacement bumper on it. I’ve never seen this type before. Looks philips’ish but as you can see, doesn’t look like a Philips would fit without force.

I appreciate any assistance. Thank you. Kevin

Looks like the bolt has been mashed a bit on a hard floor. I would put a philips bit in there and see if you can get it to turn.

I agree with Sheldon, But if memory serves me correctly, I believe that bolt also holds on the butt cap, so with a pencil or grease pencil put a witness mark across the seam so if it does come off, you can put it back exactly where it goes.

thank you both, that’s gotta be how it became deformed like that. I’m shocked that the butt cap didn’t get cracked. Appreciate you guys. 🙏🏽

Howdy;

When working on aircraft to get difficult fasteners I'd sometimes dip the dampened tip of a screwdriver in some
cleanser like Ajax or Comet for a better grip. I'd also use 2 witness marks about 60* apart. Incase 1 gets accidentally
removed.

You could also try a Robertson bit if the phillips don't fit. Most people don't know what it's called but it's in a lot of screwdriver bit cases. House Cues often used this screw to hold the bumper on.

The bolt goes in first, then the bumper goes in. Looks like someone drilled a hole in the bumper and stuck the weight bolt through it. WTF. easy to remove but what the
