I was on Ebay and noticed a "old balabushka" pool cue. I am almost certain this is a scam. If you got to Billiardcue.com and scroll down to the 8800.00 Balabushka you will see that the seller just cropped the pic in powerpoint.

This guy has a good ebay record, but that it clearly a pic from Billiardcue. Look at the background. Anyway.. I am going to pass on this one....hope no one gets burned

I saw that this afternoon...I wonder who verified it as a Bushka. I'll hold onto my wallet on this one too.

40 bids later and it sold for $2k. Now, the last "real" Bala that I saw up for sale on ebay was going for $10k, minimum and I, myself, made an inquiry to the seller who responded promptly.

Hmmmmm. Either a deal; or, every minute there's a new "one" born, says PT Barnum.

I e-mailed and asked "who authenticated it and is it guaranteed or money back" and of course never got an answer. The buyer will put the seller through the hoops before they pay, believe me. Best chance is escrow through Paul Rubino or someone like that. I would bet good money it's not a Balabushka and if it is, the seller is an idiot. Collectible cue buyers seem to take a lot of risks in hopes of making a score - I know I have.

if you will go back and re-read the ebay ad it plainly states that the pics are not his and the are only a representation of the cue he has as his camera is messed up......but i would still want pics of his cue or would prefer a escrow service with someone that can identify the cue in mention to be a real bushka and if so it will be a great steal for the person who has the time and cash to put up for a deal like that......juston

Sounded like a scam to me too. The pic was not of the real item but of one that "looked just like" the real item. Plus, it was too small to even see any detail. And the way I see it, if someone expects you to pay two thousand or even two hundred on a cue, there had better be paperwork to authenticate the cue!!!
