Cue and case look kind of 60s or 70s. Joint looks like Dufferin but cue not really. Anyone else use that joint in the day? Would appreciate any clarification.
Many things are not obvious to me, but why did the pockets wear out?My 1st cue was a Dufferin snooker cue with the aluminum joint 55 years ago. I don't remember what I paid for it but thought I was cool going to the poolhall with my own cue in a slimline case that only fit the butt and shaft and a piece of chalk under the velcro closure. Years ago a telltale sign of somebody that played was the worn out back/front pocket of their jeans.
I have never shot with one, so reserving judgement.I hated them. Worst joint ever. Made a funny sound to me. Some canuck must have od'd on maple syrup and then invented that joint.

Agreed…..I talked Dufferin into wood to wood…late 70s….he told me of the cost of retooling……I asked how many cues would have to be sold ….he said about 50….I told him I’ll buy them right now…he smiled….you don’t have to….I‘ll do it.I hated them. I've seen some old Dufferins, but not with wraps. Was yours pre 80's?I think it's a Dufferin i had one with aluminum joint on the shaft with a wrap on it nice cues.
Thought that might be it. I'm not a tucker. From tucking the chalk in the pocket
Distinct possibility. Cue and case look so old and plain.Oriental copy
I have one 17oz that I break with. I had Harry C. turn it down to 11.5mm and add a ring in the joint. I remember you taking me to the factory with you and that was pretty interestingAgreed…..I talked Dufferin into wood to wood…late 70s….he told me of the cost of retooling……I asked how many cues would have to be sold ….he said about 50….I told him I’ll buy them right now…he smiled….you don’t have to….I‘ll do it.
he gave me the first dozen….I became the sneaky Pete king…sold more that any retail outlet.
I'm guessing he's talking about the Case rather than Clothes. From tucking the chalk in the pocket
Agreed. Canadian here. The aluminum joint is terrible. I loved the "glider" joint they did on some of the nicer cues. When i find those on the second hand market i always pick them up. I know somone who though he would break with a new alluminum pin dufferin many years ago and bent it on the first break.I hated them. Worst joint ever. Made a funny sound to me. IMO the old Canuck made Duff leaf-labels made fantastic sneakys. Gotta couple friends that have ebony butterfly silver-leaf sneaky conversions. Both play great. Can't remember the builder, i think a guy here in Tulsa that passed away. True sneaky's with no collars and a Meucci pin/insert.Agreed. Canadian here. The aluminum joint is terrible. To the person asking about wraps. Many dufferins had wraps, but you dont see them often because their fullsplice was so common and popular.
Roy Mason lives about an hour away from me. I have only chatted with him a few times, but a great guy. He got the old dufferin stock when they closed up here and has a lot of blanks. I picked up an ebony/maple fullsplice blank off him about 8 or so years ago. Had a local cuesmith finish it with a pred shaft for my wife (no pred decal added). Plays outstanding. Not a true bur sneaky, added a maple ring on the butt, and ss 5/14/16 compression joint. I have a few solid maple shafts i use with it.
