when someone is refering to an old joss, how old is it?,,,,,,,,,,lol,,,,,,,,,,,,ive been told mine was from the early 70s or late 60s

I am not sure about most people but I had an old Joss and I always took
that to mean that it was a Joss when DJ and BS were still together.

I would have referred to it as an older Joss East if not/

Others may be different

Ya, show us some pictures of the Butt, please.

Old Joss...68-72 has the word "JOSS" across the top of the butt cap. Anything after that is either east or west...a noticable difference between the two. I have a "JOSS" cue from that era, truely pieces of pool history.

the wopd joss is in almost a block letter form and kinda thin at the top of the butt cap

mine has six ivroy windows divided by barbells, 4 point with gunsights in the points an ivory joint and a 3/8 10 pin

Here's pics of my Joss. Can you tell the age of it?

my guess ur cue is probably between 71-74. after that the block joss font got larger. Joss only replaced the joss logo at the buttcap during the late 70s.

Bill and Dan made ard 400 cues at the time they were together. Many ppl will claim that their cues are from this era, because the cues were more valuable during the early years. Many of these early cues had 3/8-10 joints, and maple blocks between 2 ivory ring for ringworks. ive seen many with ivory joints too.

The very early ones 68 to 70 can be distinguished by a small sketchy crude joss word on the buttcap.

This cue was made in 1972. Many of the old Josses had cortland wrap, and are highly prized in those days. But the fact that eveyone who had a Joss right up to the late 70s call theirs an old joss made the cue less valuable as it really is.

This is another old Joss with the 3/8-10 Pin, the maple boxes. The rare fellini is a nice touch, becha never seen a red felt fellini with no latch..

at one time i had 12 Old Josses... They are all nice players, slightly backward balanced and played like old josswest cues.

looks like the same ring work, however mine is all white,,,,,,,,,,,,,same logo,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ivory joint,,,,,,,,,,cue plays pretty good, however im comparing it to my daily cue a Szamboti

the guy who told me the aprox age of the cue is tricky Ricky Howard,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,most of yall know him as Rick of Mace custom cues,,,,,,,,,,,,damn, make those windows ivory and seperate them with barbells,,,,,,add gunsights to the points and you almost got my cue

as soon as i find a youngster who understands digital cameras ill post the Joss, 2 or 3 Szambotis, a Rizzo, 2 Barbers, a Jensen and asst other cues I cant remember right now,,,,,o yeah, even a Buddy Hall model Meucci signed by Buddy

btw, got the Joss and a Gus at the same time,,,,,,,,,,Gus hasnt been verified, but the collector got it from a stand up guy over ten years ago

any idea of the value on an early Joss ?

if u could send me pics of the logo and the design i could probably give a estimate of the time made. but not the value. Fancy Old Josses are not easy to sell off so their market price suffers.
i seen much fancy true old josses 1970 sell for less than a josswest wif less design, which i think is lucridous!
