Old McDermott..

I have posted earlier about repairing a old D series cue with those funky colors. However, the but is cracked and I was just wondering if any one know which type of plastic which is used? Is this the same as the white plastic in the joint section area ?

I remember from the old day's that this was announced as something "NASA Made" stuff, but my gray head can't come up with the name...

Was just looking for a substitution plastic I could use for repair.

The same is actually the case of another friends Meucci (One of those with the playing cards at the butplate). His but is also cracked, and I need to get my hands on something similar. I do not look or feel like Delrin...

Any of you experts which could help ?

Its not a "plastic." It is a molded polymer of some kind. They haven't made the stuff for a while because I've tried to get some. I still have the black, and the greyish, but not the off white.

Thank's

I'm in contact with a company which is experts in this field and the "plastic" world is so big that I just call everything "plastic". I have however given one of the skilled employes a description of my application and he's digging in to it.

In the mean time I have received some "books" with hundreds of different types including all the details. E-modules and all the bells and whistles.

PM if you are interested in my findings and I'll let you know if I find any substitute. Delrin is just a branch of something called POM-C or was it POM -H... I'm lost already..

I guess your talking about the off-white used in joints and butt caps on the D-Line of cues. I remember in their advertising back in the eighties they said that it was made from, or at least contained, wood saw dust

Dick,

You're spot on. It's that D21 with funky colors I discussed earlier, pretty much a wreck of a cue which I might use as a trial and error cue if I buy it for my self. However if I should repair it for my colleague I would need to be careful and do a good job.
