Old Moori's vs new Moori's

I often hear people say on the main forum here that the new Moori's aren't as good as they used to be. As far as I can tell, all they did was remove one of the layers, which normally got cut off anyway for a "standard" height tip. My customer haven't noticed any difference either. So is there an actual differnece? Does anyone know for a fact? After all, if you tell a player the moori's were changed and are now in their 3rd generation, the player might think they are worse just from the placebo affect.

Thanks,

Nick

I would totally disagree with those who say the new ones are worse than the old ones. I think the opposite is true. I think they are better. The Moori III tips bite the ball better and miscue less. They rarely seperate and mushroom just a little less than the 1's and 2's. I do think the 2's were a little less quality tip than the 1's, as that was when they upped production and dropped quality. But not the case with the 3's as they are better than either of the old ones. They seem to shoot the cue ball straighter than any other tip I have played with, and move the ball well. An occasional miscue is the only major complaint I have with them. But I have that complaint with all harder tips other than the Triangle. I just switched back from the Medium Moori III to a Triangle. I am moving the cue ball better, but missing a few shots I could make easier with the Moori. It is a trade off and I can't decide which is best.
