“What tournament was he playing in?”

SO WHAT, YOU THINK IT DOESNT COUNT BECAUSE IT WASNT DURING A TOURNAMENT!?!? You’re gonna put an asterisk on his record are ya? Well I’ll tell you something about something and give you the what for...hehe.
John Schmidt made a few month long high run attempts where he played 8 or so hours a day and live streamed some of it, people could show up to watch etc. There was plenty of back and forth over if what he was doing was even constitutional. Some felt he was sullying the good name of the late great Willie Mosconi.
Welcome though. It seems a new thread is better than a “hello” in the new members thread.
Hey Jeff!
I'm gonna be honest with ya.. I don't think it really counts.
It's like a race car driver breaking the record when he's the only one on the track. Or a golfer sinking putts from the green when that's the only thing he's been practicing all day. Or better yet, a punter making field goals when he's the only one on the field. I could go on and on but you get my point.
There's just something special about making a record.. in competition, while under pressure, with spectators, etc etc. Although what Schmidt did was cool in and of itself.. there really isn't anything special about breaking a record if it's not under the same or similar conditions to how the record was made. And yes, there probably should be an asterisk next to the new record. Just my two cents.
