Some credentials of the older players are they created interest in Hollywood to make classic and well received pool movies most notably The Hustler and The Color of Money. More recently Mike Sigel got Kevin Trudeau to elevate every aspect of a billiards tournament in terms of prizes, promotion, internet exposure, cable exposure and player field to a peak unknown. Despite what happen with the IPT a lot of money was spent and a lot of new exposure to billiards occurred because of it.
Newer players so far have won tournaments and give exhibitions and play challenge matches.
Older players are trying to leave their mark on the billiards community in terms of new organizations (ABP, WPBA), elevating the "prestige" of a pro player and attracting new audiences into the industry (MS and KT). Newer players are busy setting up their reputations.
The newer players are giving fans action and something new to talk about. The older players are giving fans more to think about in terms of the direction of the sport as an industry.
