Old Pool Halls --- Need your help !!!!

thx

piano man...Since you are a new poster, you might not have noticed that the post you responded to is 3 yrs old. Captain Hook doesn't post as much as he used to, but he's still here occasionally. You can PM him to reach him. He and I played some one pocket a couple months ago at the Flamingo.

Trying to figure out who the hell you are. Our path must have crossed a lot. I was rack boy as a teenager for Henry G. Racked for Mosconi when he gave an exhibition at Henrys, above Read's drug store. Had part of Henry's action when he lost 50-49 to Eddie Kelly at Kliens. Also there one right when a salesman dropped a bundle to Irving Crane at table next to Irving's pix on wall.. My dad managed Henry's till he sold it to Knocko at race track. nocko's younger brother AL borrowed money from pinball machine man and moved tables into old post office across the street.. Played against Rich Riggie just to warm him up sometime, lost once 100 to -1 LOL

Never met Rich jr, but Sr had a great looking daughter with a bad temper. As far as movie's I played against Barry Levinson at Benny's. In the movie DINER at Earl was based on fat Earl Maggod. Heard Eddie Kelly had a tragic ending ?

Hey those were the good old days. My uncle Ray was desk Sargent at NW. Got summoned one day and wondered what I did. Instead uncle Ray showed me a letter someone wrote about gambling at Benny's. He had me show it to Benny to see if he recognized the handwriting.

Benny was on second floor. A guy named Harry opened a poolroom on street level on opposite corner. Harry hated cops, especially when they raided card room in back. One night he was very late coming home and wife had friends trace his route home.
found his cadillac parked at curb and Harry standing up dead in phone booth outside NW police station.

Chris's Billiards and Howard-Paulina Billiards in Chicago both come to mind. Photos of Chris's should be easy to come by, and I'd be willing to bet someone here has some photos of Howard-Paulina.

I've never heard of Howard-Paulina Billiards recently. Did a google search and nothing came up in terms of location (just a few articles).

But another old pool hall in Chicago is Marie's Golden Cue.

Here's a pic:

And a link to more pics on the Facebook Page

I go there a good amount because the tables are maintained well, the owner has been a very strong figure in my early pool education, and my main repair guy (built my super dufferin  )

Plus i swear anytime I play there, Werewolves in London plays at least once on the radio
