Does anyone have any idea about these? Are they worth anything to anyone.
Are they worth making into DVDS? The copyrights have surely expired by now.
Picked them up from a closing pool hall with some tables.
Any help is appreciated.

Let me know if you want to sell them. I have a tape player and wouldn't mind a trip down memory lane, depending on price of course.

Very cool collection of tapes.

As for copyrights, it sort of depends on when they were first published/registered, and whether the the copyright was renewed by the owner. You would need to find out for each individual tape. Lots of information on the internet, but, it can be a gray area, and that's why copyright attorneys have a job.

If he copied these to DVD for his own viewing (without reselling anything), it would fall under fair use and not be a copyright issue. For stuff created after 1978 you don't need to renew a copyright, so he couldn't resell copies of the converted DVDs.

I would love to see those BCA videos to see what they say about pool halls as businesses. I bet those were just free handouts for business owners, should not be any issues with making those available for sharing especially since they are pretty out-dated.

Bert has actually started putting his videos on YouTube in sections, which is a great resource.

Billiards staring Willie Mosconi seems interesting. The Bert Kinister stuff can be found on a link in this forum.
Grady and the Preacher’s stuff is probably on YouTube. Some basic instruction probably not to valuable.
Billiard industry stuff.

Find an used VHS, looks like hours of fun.

Contact Accu-Stats about the publishing rights Pat would know for sure. Bert Kinister is still around, I think he has put his products on YouTube for free
