I have been looking for a new lathe, just out grew my Cue Companion!
I came across this old porper but not sure if I should buy it and upgrade it or just get a new one?

if the price is right buy it,it looks okay

Wow that is an oldy. Depends on how much you are getting it for, and what you wanna do with it.

I can get it for under $1000.00. I am hoping to start "assembling" cues. Figure that is my next step in the Cue Making Process. But will the Parts from the Model B fit? (I really want a Hightower Deluxe Cue Smith) but the price may be right for this Porper.

To upgrade that to a B model would cost you,
Things needed,
1-new tail stock,
2- feed screw with motor and PC Board and harness
3- Complete saddle
4-Taper Bar
Rough guess, I would say around 2G's for the upgrade but don't quote me on it.

WOW didn't expect that much. guess I am better off getting a new one not much differance in price!
Thnaks for your Help! :)

I was looking to do the same upgrade about a year ago. The folks at Porper said would be cost prohibitive. FWIW
