Hello AZ'ers,

Just wondering, but anyone out there have old micarta (the yellow stuff) ferrules for sale? I have a good buddy who is looking for some. I could use enough material for at least 4 shafts. Or more if it's available. Thanks!! Please contact me at:

skcheng@optonline.net

Thanks everyone,

sherwin

ps: I'm going to post this on the Cuemakers forum also.

Have you had any luck Sherwin?

I have tried to find it online but can't find it... I didnt look too hard though

I may know someone who has some stock

No luck so far......and no emails. Please do let me know if you can find some. I'll gladly pay "ivory" like money for some. I've been told that it's toxic to produce which is why it's no longer being made. Something involving asbestos??

thanks,

sherwin

I've heard that as well... That figures :) I'll keep my eyes peeled I'm on the hunt for some too.

Thanks for the link, but Trogdon has the currently made, modern micarta. My friend loves the playability of the old micarta. Others like it just cuz it's rare. At least that's what I've been told. Me......I like ivory. Stays clean, hits great, and looks great.

No one out there has a couple of old Micarta rods for sale??? Name your price!!! Seriously......

its a G.E. product, they still make it, and of course its not as yellow until it gets some age. you can still buy it from GE but in quantity and its not rods but sheets, some knife makers supplies carry it.
sorry i dont have enough to sell.

I see you are already bidding good luck. Whoever "Billiardbum" is on ebay he doesn't get ouy bid to often.

Thanks for the heads up!! I just really want two ferrules for my friend. Should be interesting to see what the ferrules will go for??? Just how badly do I want those yellow suckers.....

That's Billy Webb selling the stuff. He does some nice work with great points and veneers. He builds the Spider Webb cues, not to be confused with our fellow AZ'er Michael Webb. Tough to pay more than ivory prices for that dark yellow stuff. Yechhh!!!
