Older Brunswick Metro pool table review

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has played on or owns a Brunswick Metro (older model). I have heard good things and I am looking at having one installed with Simonis 860 in a few weeks. Good or bad, let me know your thoughts. I have heard it plays fantastic and looks like a gold crown had a baby with a bar box. Lol. I personally like the old school look of it. (Picture of table below)

This will give you an idea of how the Metro is put together.

It may be okay for a home table. It certainly is not as stout as a Gold Crown. For comparison, here's a link showing a Gold Crown IV Manual. The differences are pretty obvious.

Thanks!! Great info. I have heard the older metro’s were built “sturdier” and “heavier” according to my mechanic. Im assuming he means built with higher grade materials previously.

The gold crown def looks more stable. But it costs more than 2x as much too. One day I am hoping to have a gold crow or an anniversary. How do you rank the Metro vs the worser models? Is it better than say, a blackwolf? I have a 7ft brunswick (economy model) now that I will be upgrading.

Never heard of 'older' Metro's. AFAIK they are all the same. Not a bad table. As stated above its no GC but still a good table.

Not sure. The guy I am getting to move it said the older metro’s were better. Im sure it will be an upgrade on what I have and the price is reasonable, so I will be snagging it regardless. One day ill have a goldcrown (and a 3 cushion table. 😉)

Maybe he means the HPL over solid hardwood rails. Thats what he mentioned specifically. Was rails were heavier duty.

All were like that afaik. Believe what you want. Kinda like that cue. They were insanely overpriced when new. You could buy a new Diamond for what they tried to get. Made by Yalin in China. Never heard of any upgraded Metro.

Lol. Returning that cue. Super disappointed really. One day ill find a 3k7… one day.

As for the hpl over hardwood or hpl over “solid” hardwood. Looks to be all that changed in the table other than birch base. according to the link from brunswick you shared. Good to know it’s at least a decent table tho.

I am really disappointed in that cue tho. Why do people lie when you can get your money back and return the item once you receive it? People sometimes… they just wasted both of our time.

Nothing wrong with them. Very popular in Asia/Philipines. They've been used in some fairly big events. Price is probably fair with that cloth.

My experience is they are ok tables. I’d wait and find a used GC before I’d buy a Metro. There’s lots more GC’s around and you can find one with a little time & effort.
