older Meucci Cue

Wow, lots of comments. Thanks for the info,. I was curious about the age and value. I don't want to sell it but the tips were bad and the man who replaced the tips said the wrap had been replaced. According to him the original wrap was coated and mine was not. He thought it might be valuable and I was told this site would be a good place to check. I live in a retirement community and we have 2 tables, one 8' and a 9' table. I had to give up golf and started playing pool again after many years. I nearly fainted at the price of tips these days. Good luck guys and thanks again.
I'll pay for your new tips- I owe you after my screw up this morning- if you have a Pay Pal just private message me what your tips cost. Good Luck with your cue and your game.

You REALLY think this is a true story? Come on! the guy obviously thought that if he just asked for value he may not get a response- but the did not know that good folks here WOULD respond to legit requests on market value. I just don't buy the old man story- sorry- and forgetting everything about the only cue he has owned in 40 years? - he said he played for a while and put it away- I just don't like B.S. stories- if I am wrong then I'll be the jack ass here- so be it.

I love the cue, though, and it would sell in a heartbeat on any site! My apologies to OLD SPARKY if he is just a 79 YO who forgot what he bought.
WOW

the wrap is perfect dont mess with it. and the tips looks fine just scuff them up with some sandpaper so they hold chalk.

later on you can decide if you want to ruin it by making it look new.

i have some original 50 year old tips on cues and they still do just fine,

This is absolutely right.

That wrap is perfect!!!!

It just needs to be played with. It doesn’t need cleaned, that won’t help it a bit. It’s perfect the way it is. Takes a long time to get a wrap that good.

Cleaning it is a BAD idea

I admitted my mistake, apologized for it, and offered to pay for it- is that not all enough for you? Why would you just not let it go at that? " Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". - Acting like a judge, jury and execurioner make you feel good- or is piling on your specialty?

Who is the A- hole now?

What if he is just a normal guy who could eventually become a contributing member
Everyone is normal until you get to know them. Especially me.
That is an MO5… I have an MO4 they have pill bumpers. I paid about $100 in 1979. Those cues had the non-coated wraps. Was my favorite. I still have it. Had some work done but should have left it stock. The butt has a slight warp.

What retirement community? In Florida? If you are local to me I have Lepro + Triangle tips. I’ll put it on for you. No charge.

When did Meucci stop making good cues. I have purchased two Meucci cues in the last year, a Sky Woodward for my son and a Sneaky Pete for myself, both with Carbon Pro CF shafts. I've been pretty well satisfied with both.
Late 80’s early 90’s. Every Meucci I had from that period had problems. Popping inlays at the least. Warping at the most. My butt cap fell apart on one of them.

That said, I loved the sweet Meucci hit and own 4 Meuccis today.

70’s they were good cues. Anything after 81-82 is bad, as far as I can recall.

Does that sound about right?

Thanks, maybe I am not as crazy about this as some others imply.
I dont think this proves that you’re not as crazy as you thought…

But anyway, lots of these kind of posts on Facebook, and most are hard to believe. But then again, the internet has shown that out of the millions of people who play this game and buy cues, there’s only a small percentage of us that are “into it.”

I’ve got a friend I grew up with and played league who didnt remember that his cue was a Mali and not a Meucci. Could I see him coming back around to play more pool? Absolutely, even though he hasnt played league pool for 30 years. He only played for a short period in his life, went to Vegas for APA, came in 2nd at the annual “big tournament.” But he wasnt “into pool.” Wouldnt know anything beyond a Meucci, McDermott or Mali. Doesnt know a single pro’s name other than maybe Jeanette Lee.

He could easily come into this forum and ask about his Mali, not knowing a thing about. Btw, it’s a plain 4-pt, green veneer Trophy Series.

That describes the majority.

We are the minority

You may want to edit your original post, most people are going to start from the top and when they see that will respond without reading the rest of the thread ;)

I only have experience with older Meucci's, early 90's and older, and always loved the hit. Even with all the complaining I hear I wouldn't hesitate to buy one today.
