Olhausen leaving CA for TN

I wonder though, if in a couple months people are complaining about quality and frantacly searching for the older "quality" tables...

120 people without jobs and most of the ones staying are managment/execs???

Hopefully they can find some decent craftsmen in TN that can keep quality up...

I think though its a good time to get an table if you've been looking at one, while they are still definatly great tables.

they are moving into a new 250,000 sf factory. 60% of all the employees are going with them. quality won't go down

The Southeast has been the primary area for quality furniture manufacturing in this country for years. Companies like Bassett, Broyhill and many others are headquartered in this area. They will have no trouble finding very highly talented craftsmen if they need to add to their staff.

Step 1. Move manafacturing from an expensive state (CA) to a cheap state (TN).

How long until step 2, move manafacturing to China, is taken?

The reality of today's global business environment... adapt or die on the vine.

The shame is... more and more manufacturing capability and capacity is going overseas... and we're quickly progressing to a service-based economy (by comparison to a manufacturing-based one)...

and how much more service-based can we become before our system goes under?... meaning... until the whole friggin' bottom falls out of the once-mighty US greenback?

That's the question IMO!

That is a very good question considering that every man, woman and child is in debt $30,000 from the go get. As soon as the foreign companys cash in, we are in the crapper. I want to quit working so I don't give that dumb ass any more of my money to throw away. I'm really pissed about it.
