Olhausen Rails - No Staple Groove (Dado Groove)...?

I just noticed on the underside of the rails on my Olhausen table that there is no staple groove (dado groove) on the underside into which to staple and finish the cloth edge. It's just completely flat.

Did a quick Google search, could not find much info on this subject, but found this YouTube video for an Olhausen cloth change:

And that shows exactly the same as my Olhausen, no staple groove at all.

Anyone know why this is, and also wouldn't this affect the nose height for the cushion?

One less process times thousands of rails saves time and money. Their higher end tables have staple grooves.
Yes, it affects the nose height, (which is probably calculated for) and also reduces the contact area between rail and slate.
It's fairly common on cheaper tables.

I just hate how experienced mechanics make the bed cloth look so quick and effortless. I bet it took me at least 5 times as long to get the bed cloth on my Gold Crown using glue. Its hard to tell because the video was sped up but I spent at least 2 hours and as much as 3 hours just gluing the bed cloth down. And its time for new cloth and I don't want to do it myself. The hard part is finding someone local who will do a quality job. Is there anyone in Wisconsin doing a decent job yet??

If you don't want the loose loops showing under the rails when they bolted down, which is what happens when the cloth gets compressed buy the rails being bolted down, then place your staples 3/4" back from the bottom bevel of the rails, and keep them that far back.
