I just had my new Olhausen 3.5 x 7 table set up and after playing on it for an hour I really feel the rails are dead. A couple of the rails also have small indentations when I run my hand down them.. Has anyone had similar issues? Any recommendations on more lively rail options?

Those indentations are probably from a bad cloth installation on the rails. If it's a "new" table, I'd contact Olhausen or place you bought it from and see what the issue may be with the rails, you should not have dead rubber new from factory.
The small indentations you are feeling could possibly be where the installer pulled the cloth to tight when covering the rails. That and they probably stapled directly across where they pulled the cloth instead of stapling slightly behind where the cloth was pulled.
If you can throw a ball quickly from side to side the ball should contact at least 4 rails.

The Valley guys who do most of the bar tables around town always pull the cloth too damn tight, especially around the side pockets. They look nice, but play like snooker pockets.
Some of the rails' cloth is pulled so tight that the nose of the cushion is pulled downward thus the cueball doesn't meet the rail correctly and thus your problem. I have an Oly and my rails are good rails. Maybe not the scale of the new Diamonds, but damn good rails.
I'd guess that QAddiction is correct....the install is at fault.
