Omega Jump vs Jacoby Jumper / Jumpin James

Hi guys,

I'm gonna be buying a jump cue, and I've narrowed it down to these 2. I know that some of you might recommend me others, maybe even better jump cues and I appreciate it, but these are the only 2 that I am considering.

Hence, I would really like anyone who uses any or both of these jump cues to comment. Apparently there are lotsa pros out there who use the Omega jump, whereas I dunno any who use the JJ. Price wise, the OJ is more attractive, but dang, I'm falling in love with the JJ's design!

thanks, comments welcome!

Jacoby is the BEST jump cue out there, hands down!

How close can you jump with the entire cue, not just the shaft? How does it work for long jumps? Do you use the joint groove for the dart stroke? Do you have the standard maple one?

Sorry about the barrage of questions! :p

i can jump a ball easily a ball or less away from the impeding ball with a jacoby.

i'm not gonna draw the ball back two feet or anything, but i can get it over and make a good hit/shot very very close with a jacoby.

Hey VAP,

I'm guessing that you can jump the ball that short of a distance using the entire jump cue right? Not just the shaft?

And is the finger groove in the joint of any use to you?

thanks

Jacoby Jumper

What are the specs of the Jacoby Jumper?

Shaft & handle lengths

Tip diameter

Pin

Weight

etc, etc, etc........

Shaft length - 29"

Handle length - 12 1/8" to end of bumper

Tip diameter - about 12.8 or 12.9mm

Weight - Shaft 3.75 oz. Total weight - 6.95 oz or 6.75 oz without bumper

I don't know what's out there that could possibly jump easier or better than a Jacoby

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the replies, it seems like an overwhelmingly Jacoby camp here!!

Anyhow, I hope I don't get any hate mail, but I've also posted on the pros' forums to ask for their opinion.

Is the Jacoby?

The only jumper with a 'finger grip' for the dart style. I was thinking
there were 1 or 2 more brands with the 'finger grip' also?

And, after looking at the Jacoby jumper, is the 'finger grip' in
the right position or is it too close to the joint?

Snapshot9,

The Jacoby is the only one I've seen with the finger groove, I dunno if there are others. The Jumping James has the groove too, but Jacoby made it for them.

Honestly, I don't know if the finger groove is really that useful, which is why I'm asking about it. I'm not a good jumper by any standards, but whenever I've seen people use them, they never use the groove cos it's simply too close to the joint. I think that if you were a certain height, the groove would help, but prolly not if you're about 6 feet and onwards.

I'm 6ft myself, and the finger groove is in the perfect place.

like i said before, i use it for close jumps. i also use it when the cue ball is really out there in the middle of the table and i can't get close enough to hold the cue like normal. i just stretch out and use the finger groove.

the only other cue that i've been able to jump will as good as the jacoby is a stealth jump cue.

Hi VAP,

You hit it right on the nail...someone told me that I should consider buying the Stealth cos most pros use it and it's a very good jumper. A leather tip with even an extension correct? How would you rate it against the Jacoby?

I really like that finger groove, though I dunno if I'll use it!

Jacoby Jumpers are in stock at www.onthehill.net.
I just visited Troy last Friday and he's got about a dozen of them. They look and feel very effective and of course the high quality of a Jacoby.

The stealth jump cue is a great jump cue !!!! If you don't jump well the jacoby jump cue is one of the best made . But if ya want to jump insane close shots like i do talk to pat deveney he has a web site he makes a awsome jump cue with a g-10 ferrule. This jump cue can pop the ball up probally a ft and half insane so give pat a call and have him make ya one with the g-10 my budie has one it's insane...

I have a predator, lucasi, bungee, J&J. They all work ok, but nowhere as consistent as a jacoby. If you think you cant jump, think again. I've had complete bangers jumping balls with it in 5 minutes or less.
