Why are some people complaining about the pace of play from the Melinda vs Jenny match?

What's the deal with wanting a shot clock? Players develop their own pace as to help them play their best pool. Certain cues, routines, mannerisms, help them in their shot routine. Asking them to change that could possibly make them play worse. Who wants to watch their C game when you could watch their A game?

How about i ask you to not take any warm up strokes bc i want the game to move faster? Sounds pretty ridiculous right? Its not like this is televised on TV where they have limited time frames.

I love watching Melinda play.

Is it slow? Yes.

Is she afraid to try to outrun the nuts? No, but that may not be the case here.

Does she bet her own and make great sacrifices to provide us with some entertaining stories and improve her game? F*** YEAH!!

I like that she puts her cue down on the line of a shot then moves in on the shot. Its something that no one else does. Its like her signature way of playing. It makes her unique amongst other things. :thumbup:

She's got one of the most entertaining personalities in pool. Lets support her and hope that she gets to be a professional pool player. She would bring a lot of character and be very marketable to the game we all love.
 
I for the most part agree with you, I wan`t the players to make the best shots possible.
Mosconi cup i feel was hampered with a too short shotclock.
But It`s not chess, so we need a upper limit, especially if we wan`t pool to be a popular TV sport.
It`s hard to come up with a time limit, but if you spend two minutes on a shot, something needs to happen.
I did not see the match you talk about, but i have noticed a very slow pace at quite a few womens matches.
The players need to be made avare of their slow playing style before the matches, so they have a chance to adjust.
 
Slow Play

Slow play isn't good for pool. 99% of the time you know which shot to shoot within 20 seconds after approaching the table. Many players play slow to try and slow down their opponent to keep them from getting in stroke and rhythm which gains them momentum.

I played this guy years ago who would always play slow and very cautious. He did this only to get me to play slow and very cautious which kept me from playing my natural slightly faster rhythm. It worked at first but once I realized what he as doing I went back to my natural rhythm.

Rhythm of play is very important and when your opponent slow plays you it messes up your rhythm to keep you from playing your best. Your opponent doesn't want you to get in your rhythm since you might get in dead punch and your opponent might get ran over.
 
I agree with a shot clock on some players. If you feel that they should not use a shot clock then , maybe you are the one that should have one. Every once in a while it may take you a long time to figure out what you need to do but , it should not take you that long every time you approach the table. They are not moving targets !!!!!
 
I think the shot clock is a good thing for pool. There are definitely people who play too slow. I did not see the match or know of those involved so I can not comment on them specifically. When you see someone walk around the table to look at their shot then move behind the shot line and stand there doing nothing but strumming their cue like an air guitar for a couple of minutes they are playing far too slow, unfortunately I have been on the receiving end of behavior like this.:mad:
 
If they are gambling and streaming then the railbirds should watch and if they don't like they should move and I mean railbirds in the room and on the internet. They are not playing to please they are playing to win. I like the way OMGWTF writes and that she has a lot of heart will bet her own from what I know so good on you lady play hard and play your way ignore the people watching the stream.


Move along here people ladies are gambling they do not need your help
