can't beat it

i've had my omin one piece for about 10 years now, and have owned everything from barracuda's, bce, hunt and byrne, craftsman, thomas gauthier, and john parris. omin cues can compare with any one of those in regard to quality, and fit n finish, for a fraction of the cost. many of the european cue mfg. are having a hard time competing with omin.

That is absolutely true:thumbup:

Of course my comments are uncalled for. Facts usually are by someone floggin something on a forum in the hope theres a few mugs who will believe his bullshit.

If you dont want to see a reply that aint congratulating you on your deal to import cues made for around £70-£80 apiece to which your selling them for 3 times that then sod off and get your own website.

What am I missing here? What is the current exchange rate of Pounds to US dollars?

Monto offers $150US for a hand built, to your specs, custom pool cue. I don't see 2-3 times the price that you mention, unless the pound has taken a real nose-dive.

Today's exchange rate appears to be $1.54381. $1.54381 x 80 Pds = $123.50

He would have to listing them for $370.50 each to equate to a 3 times mark-up.

Right on Joe.

Right on Joe.

I did see where these cues are being sold on websites in the UK for $200 pounds or so, but that is not what Monto is doing, that is the local UK billiards industry.

Example: http://www.cue-cases.co.uk/Omin_Cues.htm

Seems to me that if I could buy these from Monto for 80 pounds each and sell them for the 180-200 pounds that they seem to be bringing in the UK, I would pick a few of them up from him and make a little profit.

If you have a beef, it is with your local dealers, not Monto, who is trying to give you a real deal.

Great post and research Joe. It seems Wity was not very witty with his posts...

Thats what you think although O'min does not make pool cues, but it's a long way off reality.

"Prices start with 150 usd + shipping + Paypal 3%"

True but as misleading as hell when he follows it up with pictures of handspliced cues costing way way more.

What he's not saying is $150 is for a MACHINE SPLICED CUE If i'm wrong I apologise and i'll have a hundred of them please.

The hand spliced cues which he displays cost from around the £200 mark to £300 plus postage. As can be seen here:

www.uniquecues.com/e/product_1.asp?page=3

Which prices them in the mid to high end uk price range. As 2000 chinese yuan / runminbi = £191.93 = $292.74 (yahoo currency conversion 2 mins ago)

O'min like any chippy can make a decent snooker cue lets face it it aint rocket science. But they are not the bargain they once were(because of the low labour costs) nowadays they are in high demand as the far east has taken to snooker big time. Acordingly the prices have risen.

Oh and when I say they are made for around £80 apiece I had in mind the trade price of a plain ebony/ ash ¾ inc ebony mini butt that I can buy a quality English hand spliced cue for. Thus thinking the average manufacturing labour cost in Thailand is about £100 week or so equal to what the state pays our oap's.£80 seemed about right for a extra couple of splices.

I am offering handspliced cues in perfect or classic series of omin cues for the price mentioned.
machine spliced will be more cheaper depending on designs as well.

Thanks for your interest.

Thanks Monto for the super deal. I look forward to receiving my "custom-built, hand-spliced" O'min cue.

Let us all know when you receive the payment for the 100 cues from Wity.

I sincerly apologise then as $150 is indeed a good price.

Why though do you not try putting a few on ebay, adding 15% to cover paypal and ebay fees= $172 = £113 At that price they would be snapped up. Unless of course the postage to the uk would counteract it, though i doubt it would be as the chinese are selling loads of tat cues and cases on there with delivery in about 4 days for about £20.

Bump for some nice cues!

Wity-
Your hijacking of this thread was uncalled for and in poor form IMO. You should have handled your confusion through PM. Maybe you'll think of that next time?
