On my way to Vegas

I've been playing in the VNEA for the past 5 years and every year my team has been runner up for a trip to Vegas. This year my team has won an expense paid trip to play in the VNEA grand tournament.

Anyone else going? How far do you have to go? I live in Montreal, Quebec.

i will be there 5/25 to 6/4. 2nd year attending. It was great last year.

Coming from South Florida

I wish we could stay for this event, but it means spending 3 weeks going for both events in Vegas and we just can't swing it this year.

I hope everyone has a great time and I look forward to attending it next year.

i'll be there......i live here...LOL. but i won't be playing. my company is helping to sponcer the pro event

I will be there form the 24th til the 3rd of June. I go for the whole thing every year. I was inducted into the VNEA Hall of Fame in 2004 and one of my team-mates is being inducted this year. It should be a great time just as it always is. Just something about being in Vegas and all those beautiful women. If you've never been there, you'll have a great time. Sam

I've never been there but one of my team mates went last year with another team. He said it was awsome. I'll be there from the 27th to the 3rd.

Make sure you know the rules.

You and your team-mates should make sure you are all up to date about team rules. There are some teams who look for an excuse to call a foul on you. Make sure you all know not to talk to the players at the table. Don't tell them the score when they're in a game. Mark the pocket. Watch your opponent for possible fouls.
Just a few of the little things that some teams watch for. While most of the players out there will treat you with respect and the utmost sportsmanship, some people just can't play without some kind of controversy. You may go 4-5 years and never run into one of these people, but if you do, don't let them ruin your trip. It is awesome to get to play someone from another country who maybe speaks no English at all, {although it does create some challenges}. Just have fun and try to make some new friends. Good luck, Sam

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up. I usually play very friendly and open with my conversations on and around the table but I'll have to pay more attention to the rules there.

I'll be there from Monday to Sunday for the team event. It's my last year playing league so I hope to go out with a bang...the last 2 years our team has come home with a gold(intermediate '04) and a silver(masters '05) so I'm hoping to bring hope another piece of hardware to match(the gold preferably). Team name is the barbox bullies, if you see us around stop by and say hello.

Todd
