I just received my copy of Tom's book, the covers are delicious. I might even read it instead of my usual.
I love the format; large size/print, many pictures and options w/expert instruction that covers everything one would need in 1-pocket...at least to get the creative juices flowing as we are all different. Well done, sir!

Just got mine. #114 of 200 so you guys better hurry. This is a great book and I've only had time to give it a cursory read. The drills Tom teaches are worth the price frankly and the game situation explanations are phenomenal. Buy it!

Got mine too.
Looked at 1 scenario thus far...
I got one word: i never woulda thought of that!

Got my copy from Tom today, and I'm VERY impressed. Spiral bound, large soft cover book, great illustrations and layout. What a nice job Tom did in producing this book, which has a wealth of good information for prospective, as well as accomplished One Pocket players. This book is sure to become a staple in the library of One Pocket aficionados for years to come. I just hope he will continue to produce more copies when the current ones are gone, as I'm sure they will be soon.

Tom is not only a terrific player, but he is a great teacher of the game with the ability to communicate well. "One Pocket" is a MUST for any serious One Pocket player! Tom has created a book to rival Eddie Robin's "Winning One Pocket."

Yes , I have a copy, and it was well worth the wait. Tom writes like a master, very clear and easy to understand, The shots he shows are excellent examples of what happens during play, the shot and expected outcome, The Photos are supper, almost like your standing over the table. I keep getting new info every time I look at this book.
If you don't have a copy, Beware of those that do.....

Thanks Tom
Book #12

The more I read, the more I like it. This book is a TREASURE! I started reading it two days ago and yesterday I played in a big One Pocket event at Hard Times, with many good players (Rodney, Tang, Santos, Schmidt, Rafael, Brandon Shuff etc.). I won my first two matches (Races to Three) 3-2 and 3-0 against excellent players (Mark and Randy). I lost my third match to Rafael Martinez 3-1. I had Rafael 1-0 and 6-3 in balls in game two, but he got very serious then! First prize here is like $1,500 and he wants it bad!

I made him work for every ball and consistently put him in traps that he managed to extricate himself from. The little guy can still play some great pool and he finally wore me out. I had played seven hours of pool by then with only five minute breaks between matches and my feet were hurting (ingrown toenail) and frankly I felt drained. I forfeited my next match on the loser's side even though it was a money match. I needed to take a long break and they wanted me to play right back.

No biggie, it was only $100 entry fee and my first tournament in a long time. I just wanted to see how I would fare and overall was pleased with my showing. I really feel that reading the introduction to Tom's book was very beneficial to me yesterday. It helped put me in a positive state of mind and I felt prepared to play. Thanks Tom!

Tom,
Got my books yesterday and started reading last night, nice book, great explanations of strategy, its definitely worth the price. I really love this game and cant tell you how much I appreciate a senior player sharing the knowledge. This will add a lot of new things to my game and make my weekly One Pocket Competition more exciting and give me more to practice that I know will result in a better game. Thank you very much.

This is a great book for any skill level. I have started a second read of the book.
The photos and ideas offered for problems pictured are excellent. If you don't have this book, your 1 pocket education will suffer(and so will your pocketbook if you gamble).

This is damn good, I'm glad I bought this. Immediate classic.

Thank you Tom.

Tom Wirth's book is a must read for anyone who appreciates the game of one pocket. Tom's communication skills are among the best, and his knowledge and understanding on positions of value are beyond price. My game has improved for sure and i'm not even half way through the book, thanks Mr. Wirth, you are the voice of reason.

I read Tom's book this morning...cover to cover... with a repeat read of certain sections... its that good...
I may not be much of a one pocket player, but, I am going to practice a lot of what is in this book prior to derby this year...
If you don't have the book, you just gave me a big advantage...not saying I will be a champion, just saying the principals are sound behind the knowledge of the game and I can see how it will help me overcome some situations where I was lost before...Just the logic of the thought process is intriguing to say the least...

Bille

received my copy last night. have had some time here and there (maybe a couple hours cumulative) to sporadically process parts of its content.....

the koehler book is ok - maybe even take a couple things away from it. the robin books are rare commodities that cover abstract aspects of the game with some colorful anecdotes sprinkled in....
but a game of controlled aggression is in a class by itself. bar none.
congratulations and thank you tom.

I agree that this book is fantastic. Very well done Tom, and thank you. Not just good shots but it's the "concepts" that add enormous value IMO. Ridiculously good value!!!

have read thru the book
my 2 cents
BUY IT...
it really is the only book on the market that gives you an in depth look at playing one pocket
from a pros perspective
the old saying is
give a man a fish he eats for a day
teach him HOW TO FISH
he eats forever
this book teaches you how to fish
THANK YOU TOM
FOR YOUR WILLINGNESS TO SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE
ACHIEVED FROM YEARS OF DEDICATION TO ONEPOCKET

Mine just arrived. I just was to say thanks Tom. I look forward to studying. Great idea as a ring binder for use as a work book.

This is an amazing coincidence.
I just got to my mailbox today and found Tom's book. I've looked through it carefully, and it's exactly the book I was gonna write.
How did he do that?

All I can really say is Wow! Can't wait to wade deeper.

Thanks, Tom.

Guys, and girls I just now received my copy of "One Pocket: A Game of Controlled Aggression. As someone who worked in the book binding field for 27 years, I can tell you that this is a very high quality product! Quality paper and color photo illustrations are capitol and spiral binding to be able to lay open flat at the table is just great. More pool books should be done this way but I can tell you, it ain't cheap to do.
I'll get into reading my copy a bit later and am look forward to it. Just the endorsements on the back cover would have been enough for me to want it, let alone what I've read of Tom and his experience on this forum.
Buy it, I don't think you'll regret it!

I agree, Tom goes first class with everything he does. A must read.

I got my book a couple of weeks ago, am on page 145, "take outs", great book, it is like getting 2 weeks of lessons for $55, you can't beat it. This is the book I needed and wanted, thanks.

Tom

Tom:

This book is amazing. I have lost about $5000 already trying some of your combination/ carom shots in the end game section. [Just kidding].

I love the illustration of a ticky or tice or whatever it is called shot on page 22. I thought I knew what this was, from watching Grady's tapes, but now after seeing your illustration and description, and taking it to the pool room and practicing, I am not only able to hit this shot every time, but I am seeing other scenarios where I can incorporate it into my game.

This is a cool book. I just hope my opponents don't read it.

Carla

My copy was in the mail today and I can wholeheartedly say, this is superb. I've got a couple dozen pool books and after about 3 hours of reading and looking through it, this is gonna be right up there with my favorites Banking with the Beard and McGoorty by Robert Byrne.

Worth every penny and then some.

I thank you all and only wish that this game become the #1 game of choice among all pool players, everywhere.

GC. You're only saying these nice things because they're true, aren't you?
That is except for the part about your wife leaving you. She knows a good thing when she sees it. She's a smart lady.
