I hope all of you guys who are coming to Derby City will plan to come to the One Pocket HOF dinner on Tuesday night, January 27. This year we are going to have a tribute to 'Freddy the Beard' along with one surprise 'Lifetime Pool in Action' award, so even though we are not doing any new player introductions this year, it will be special evening. Freddy's daughter Catherine is planning to come, and it will be her first HOF dinner, although she has seen some video of earlier years -- that's not the same thing as being there!
All of our dinners have been a powerful mix of strong emotions, from sadness over good friends who are gone, to well-deserved heartfelt pride for the honorees, to fall-on-the-floor belly laughs at anyone and everyone's expense. It is that combination of tribute and roast all rolled into a bunch of good stories that makes the dinner so much fun.
It will be different this year without Freddy at the podium, but believe me, he will have a powerful presence in the room! As always, we will also have an all-star cast of guest speakers to keep things interesting.
It is also an important transitional year after 10 years with Freddy and Grady at the mic, so if you can come and show your support for this next chapter of the One Pocket Hall of Fame, then please come and help get us off on the right foot for this 11th dinner -- the first of our next ten years!!
