I'm a pretty nitty player and I just can't see not going for the out here unless I knew the table was playing bad on my side.
The idea behind your shot is good, take his ball out, go for yours... however even if you do take his ball out, and get the cue-ball to stay up on the table (not easy), if you don't pocket your ball you are leaving him a pretty easy out needing 2 balls with an easy bank and a ball by his hole.
Aarons shot is another good thought but I feel like you're selling out a bank (and the game), again, way too often here.
