One Pocket -- no jumping necessary

All of these 10 page arguments on whether jump cues should be allowed or disallowed are ridiculous.

If everyone would just play REAL games like One Pocket or Straight Pool, then this would be a non-issue

Yes John I agree, in both games people play you safe or roll lucky where they snooker you. In those cases sometimes the only shot that has a chance is a jump. The jump shot can be performed with a regular cue and jumping over the side of a ball half blocking the shot is a very high percentage move. Just because they bar a short light jump cue does not mean you cannot and should not perform a jump with your regular cue. Earl made all of those cool jump shots on TV that started the jump craze with his long playing cue.

I have seen people who had a poor shot into the rack in straight pool and did not like where the cue ball was going to hit, so they jacked up, cut the ball in the corner and jumped the cue ball up in the air so it landed not against the stack but landed in the middle of the stack which seperated the balls. I have seen people manufacture break shots from impossible situations like being up table with the cue ball and object ball both almost on the rail and straight in. The guy does a semi jump where the cue ball rides up on the point of the rail, comes off and juices down table to hit the stack and produce a shot.

There will always be a place for a jump shot produced with a regular playing cue. The jump shot in the color of money was with a regular cue. If you want to ban my jump cue that's OK with me, I will just keep jumping with the cue I play with. That means now I will jump less and won't be able to fly over the top of full balls up close but I can still get up and over half balls with no difficulity. Be cognizant of the fact the jump shot is a legal shot and you may continue to shoot it until it is banned out of your rule book you play by.

I wish that were true but I have been beaten in
1 hole by guys using a jump cue. (Expletive omitted.)
