One pocket question

I've been reading the posts from the DCC thread and am curious about something. I have picked up the general idea of one pocket, but don't know all the rules yet (not many play it locally).

How do you give an 11-7 spot in one pocket? Once the other player gets to 5 or 6, you obviously can't make your number. Does it then become a matter of gettting fouls from the opponent? How do the balls get back on the table for the player going to 11?

I apologize for my ignorance :confused: , but it's a tough game to learn with nobody to play against.

Thanks.

one pocket

when a player is giving up a spot and the total number of balls equal more than 16 (8-8) then the player giving the spot must spot the number of balls that would make him then go to 8.. (if giving up 11-7 then the player giving the spot must spot the first 3 balls he makes.)

As I've always played it, the player giving out weight spots enough balls so that the total balls needed equals 16. So an 11-7 game would require spotting the first two balls made and then playing 9-7.

Examples:
11-6 ==> spot 1 ball and then play 10-6.
13-7 ==> spot 4 balls (20-16=4) and then play 9-7.
20-5 ==> spot 9 balls and then play 11-5.
And so on...

Thanks for the info. I have to find a way to get more into this game. I think I'd enjoy it once I figure out the rules.
