One pocket rules for a new player

Anybody have a good set of rules for one pocket? This is all I found online:

There are still lots of things I think are left unclear in here. I also tried to look for some rules on this forum, but it won't let me search for three letter words, such as one. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Oh Im definitely wondering if theres any ball in hand? If an opponent fouls, then does the incoming player continue playing the without moving the cue ball? If a ball is illegally pocketed, its not considered a foul? Also, these rules say something about pocketing a ball in the opponents target pocket does not count for the opponent if you scratch or jump the ball off the table, how does this work? Please help interpret.
