Open Letter to Justin from TAR

If history is a teacher, back in the 50's when TV was black & White only. They tried Straight Pool on TV, with big national sponsors. It BOMBED.

I hear you, I just don't think it would bomb as sold in a package with 10 ball and 1 hole with the right players.

I haven't said anything bad about the game. I also love one-pocket and play it most days, but I also realize there aren't that many players who would pay to watch it. It is what it is.

I grew up playing snooker and I still play it. I guess that makes me a beginner.

I know you didn't say anything bad about the game and I hope you don't feel like I was on the attack with my reply. It just seems to me that 8 Ball is most beginners game of choice and I just don't see beginning pool players as the stream purchasing public in the near future. JMHO..and again it prob works great for some matches in an All Around..maybe even most matches..I just think 1 in every 5 matchups on TAR could use 14.1 instead of 8 Ball if the players were..Schmidt, Thorston, Ortmann...etc where they are 14.1 guys that excel at other disciplines as well.

Remember before the Dennis/SVB match when they played 8 ball that was streamed as a free preview to the upcoming weekend match?

Maybe Justin could do the same thing before one of these next two matches, except have the players play some 14.1 if they're up for it. Maybe a race to 100 for a steak dinner, or they can put up some cash if they want.

That would be fine..short race to 100 as a promo would be great..especially since it doesn't look like the paying pool public are jumping on the 14.1 bandwagon.

As I just wrote to Mark I was obviously baited to a level I don't normally go to by the same troublemakers well known on this forum. Yesterday I posted my viewpoint and received responses from people who agreed or disagreed with my opinion respectfully...today was attack me or mock my viewpoint day. I had the choice to ignore or reply..I chose reply.

Fair enough. I thought you made a compelling argument and then dove into another place when challenged. I've been there and heard clowns who can't carry my case question me. I as well try to stick within the lines but sometimes fail. We all need a nudge back into alignment.

Wow! That's a pretty cool link of Lou playing straight pool, with Blackjack (Dave Sapolis) commentating. Good find! :)

You've now given me a reason to quit work for the rest of the day. I have a funeral to go to at 6 p.m., and after hanging out on this forum this morning, well, you can stick a fork in me now. No more work. I'm done! :grin-square:

Dave is pretty doggone good commentating.

The commentating is better than the playing :-)

I think I have a vid of me running a few more balls than that somewhere, or maybe I'll just try and record another...

The battles are over..just want to see who would want or more importantly PAY for a 14.1 stream in a 3 discipline package. Basically 14.1 vs 8 Ball
