I am just curious...anyone have an opinion on a Vortex break cue from Cuetec? I saw them on eBay and have always liked the Cuetec as a break cue. Just curious as to their hit and quality.

Thanks,
Shorty

Hey Shorty,

I've never played with a Vortex but the charts on Platinum billiards show it being slower than a cuetec sst or thunderbolt. The deflection chart shows it about the same as a regular hard rock maple shaft. Strange since I think they use a similar technology to the Mcdermott ice tech, except I think cuetec uses plastic or fiberglass inserts.

and the fact that they DONT fit all cuetec cues like they claim to... and when you question cuetec about it, they assume you are taking them for a ride and f**k you off.

They sent me a miscut vortex which didnt fit, and didnt return any contact!

Cuetechs are friggin awesome i got this cuetech an sometimes when i get mad when i miss cuz the pockets move i get mad and i hit the table with my cuetech as hard as i can and since cuetechs are friggin awesome and indestructible it doesnt even have a scratch in it and that lets me hit the table more to teach the table some manners because the table makes fun of me whenever i miss and if i hit it enough with my friggin awesome cuetech eventually it will learn some manners.

Shorty,

I was able to get a Vortex shaft at dealer cost and I bought a Cuetec cue as well, planning to use it as a break cue. The Vortex shaft didn't fit the cue well and I didn't like hit of the shaft at all. I was able to sell it quickly though. Maybe I didn't give the shaft enough time, but I didn't like it from the start.

Like they shoot with an "off the wall" Cuetec. I know for a fact that Earl doesn't, his shafts are made to his specs and aren't fiberglass clad. I don't know about Allison's though.
