I want to buy a performance shaft for my cue. Between a Predator 314, Universal Smart Shaft, and OB-1 Shaft. Which one do you think is the best? I have hit with both the Smart shaft and the 314 shaft. I have to say the quality and hit of the smart shaft was very impressive and I liked it better than the 314; then again the 314 has been aroud for a long time with many praises. How do you guys like the OB-1 shaft? What are your opinions?

Laminated vs Old growth vs ???

Actually, I think you should just buy my ZAC Tulipwood cue with his custom laminated shaft and you would have no other worries.....lol :D

But, I don't really know about the OB-1 or Universal Smart shafts.....I have shot with a 314 and liked it very much; however, I believe if you can find an "old growth" straight grained shaft they are just as good if not better!?

The best playing shaft I have is an old TS shaft which just shoots AWESOME -- again it's really a matter of being comfortable I think.... being used to how the cue plays and the overall responsiveness of whats in your hands I guess ;)

i shot with all three shafts... the predator shaft feels too light like it is weightless.. the ob-1 shaft felt wierd.. i would have to play with it more.. and the universal smart shaft played awesome.. it was on a cheap lucasi and it made the cue feel like a million bux...

preach on brother!! :D

Never tried a Universal Smart Shaft. I used to use 314 shafts, now I use OB-1.

Your question doesn't specify what you are looking for in a shaft. If it's low deflection, the Z shaft has the lowest (albeit smaller tip diameter), then 314+OB-1 are similar, then USS.

If it's "feel/hit" then I like the OB-1 over the 314 and Z, but I've never tried the USS.

I've had my OB-1 for about a week now, and I love it. I would compare it to the Meucci Black Dot, but the shaft has less vibration on impact with the cue ball. I have shot with the 314, Meucci, Thunderbolt, and good old hardwood maple. This OB-1 Shaft is good folks, very, very good.
I bought mine with a 12.6 diameter, 30" length, and Talisman tip. I will not play without it again. And no, I am not selling the shaft, nor am I receiving anything for this endorsement. As a matter of fact, it is probably a good thing for me if you guys never try the shaft (smile).

I have played with all the shaft's.But not the ob1. I would say get a mcdermott I2 shaft man they play and feel awsome and you can't beat the warranty.LOL ,ya I no I hate mcdermott cues to.JMO
