Maybe this should be in the "cue" section, but.......whatever

I put this fake buck skin leather wrap on my cue last week, and everything went fine. I'm thinking of doing the same to the other cue in the pics. I'm not really happy with the color combo on the one I wrapped, but the old wrap did'nt match either IMO (double blk w/ wht linen). What do you think?

BTW the material came from Wal-mart of all places, and I have red also which might be cool...

Black on the other cue. The one you wrapped I think would look better in a light brown. Some how that color just doesn't look right. Looks like you did a pretty fair job on the install.

Looks as if you did a bang up job. I wish I could do that. If the quality is good and you can do it yourself, why not. You can always change it if it doesn't hold up. You probably saved yourself $150 by doing it yourself.

Was going to give a wise crack answer like Wal-Mart probalbly sells slip on tips that you may want to try but decided against it. LOL

Sorry ...

I don't care for either one's wraps. The black, IMO, would look better with double pressed solid black linen or black leather wrap (maybe lizard) and the other cue is too neutral on the color.

I just don't care for 'white' looking wraps. It's like owning a white car, very few look special, or classy.

thanks for the nice words guys. About 10 years ago a few friends asked me to try leather on a few cues. Back then I went to 2nd hand shops and bought used leather coats for material to practice with.

The wife drug me to wallyworld last week and I stumbled on this material. It looks yellowy in the pics, but it's more like leather work boot color. I don't like it much, but it's all I had to practice with.

Maybe I'll ask if I can order black?, and put it on the Lucasi in the pic.

Never seeing how a pro would do it, I just made up a process to do the wraps. I used to overlap the leather and cut the seam thru both pieces, then trim the top and bottom. This wrap I made a template and cut it about 1/16" shy and lightly stretched the leather into place, which worked well.

back to the shop....Gerry

Look's great, just keep your grip hand clean.:)

I hear ya, that cue is a wall hanger,Mike Keim, a friend from Pa. made it for me. Neat cue, started as a house cue, then he added the points and ring work, and we made Corian ferrules, which give it a real different hit. Something like Ivory...

I used Elmers Craft Bond. It was right there in the fabric area. It's cool stuff because it has an adjustable tack time. The longer you let it sit, the less adhesion it has. I just sprayed the wrap, then the cue, then put it together. I had plenty of working time to get it just right. I guess it took me 15 minutes to set the leather, then work it to where I wanted it. Most time was spent making the pattern...

Check out the leather wrap Phillippi put on my cue recently. In my opinion it looks good but lots of people will disagree. Looks like you did a nice job.
