im tall with long arms......6'3" 36 in sleeve on my shirts. I shoot with a 60" cue and it feels better to me, so i was wondering if a 60" break cue wouldnt be better too. I had someone tell me I would lose power with a longer cue. Heres the deal though, when i break off the rail, i cant get a really long bridge. With my hand on the very back of my break cue, i can get about a 12" bridge and thats it, anything more and i have alot of arm movement and it all feels really unstable. You see the big breakers like bustamante, it seems like his bridge is 2 foot long when he pulls it back, and BOOM. I mean it almost seems for me to have a similar break id have to have a 62 inch break cue or more. Anybody ever experimented with stuff like this, especially if you are tall or were making one for someone tall. I have a decent break now, can control the cueball pretty good and i usually can pocket a ball or 2......but i want that big break like the pros one day.

Well i guess its personal preference.

If you have a 60inch playing cue, then its kinda a no brainer to have the same lenth for a break cue also.

Not sure if you have a seperate jump cue, but if you could find someone to make you a 60inch cue, for breaking that doesnt cost you alot of $$$ then i see no reason to give it a try.

The worst that can happen is you find off your better off with the 58inch cue for breaking.

I shoot and break with 59" cues. 29" butts and 30" shafts...worked for me since 1985!

I know most people aren't fond of using their playing cue for breaking, but why don't you try breaking with your playing cue and see if it is a noticable difference? You don't need to hammer the balls, just break a few times to see if you get the feel you are looking for with the extra length.

I play with a 60" cue also and have a 60" break cue. I do recommend one.
It might help a little, because it will allow you to assume a more comfortable posture in positioning your stance for the break. It might be a little harder to control the longer break cue. It will take practice.

The main benefit of a longer stroke on the break is that it allows you to take a smoother stroke. Think long and smooth. The smooth stroke helps keep the arm relaxed. Tension in the arm and shoulder kill the speed and accuracy of the break. A relaxed arm and grip allow you to generate the speed necessary for a powerful break. Then you just need to worry about hitting the one ball square.

This is a good idea... it won't cost you anything. The trial might answer some questions you have, quickly. Myself, I do use a separate cue for breaking. I don't want to beat up the tip on my play cue. My break cue is also made different, it is made to hit hard & accurate with.

One thing you might try, to see if the 60" cue option is your direction, ask one of your buddies to look at your frame, while you are in position to shoot a break shot. If an added length cue would get your into better position, that's the way to go. (see attachment)
