Opinions on jump cues...

Forgot to mention euro-west their jump break uses a new ivory substiute that holds chalk unlike the other phenolics hence you can play shape after the ball jumps.

I've got a varney j/b and a lucasi jump. The lucasi is a nice little cue, great for close jumps. The varney has better control for longer jumps. Can't beat the price of a lucasi either.

I just hit with a Mystick Jump cue the other day at Fast Eddies, and I loved the way that thing jumped. And it was also reasonably priced.

He is based out of San Antonio, TX

I've used the Bunjee jump cue which led me to purchase a Bunjee Blaster J/B cue when I was looking for a breakcue. The advantage of the Blaster was the ability to connect the shaft to either the forearm OR handle to give you a long or short jump cue. Later I picked up an XBreaker J/B cue that you can also connect the shaft to either the forearm or handle.

When I was in Vegas for the BCA Nationals I picked up the Stealth. For me this is the bomb. It is a dedicated jump cue with WB tip and is 50 inches long in normal configuration. You can unscrew the butt to give you a normal length jump cue. I believe the lighter weight is the key. While phenolic will get the ball off the table I found I tend to overstroke the jump shot. With the stealth I have been able to jump a full blocking ball 2" separation and get the cueball back down quickly with control. Longer jumpshots seem more natural because of the longer cue length.

I did run into a problem on one jumpshot where I missed my object ball because of the inadvertant english I put on the CB ie as soon as the CB hit the table it took a right hand turn. As I get used to the WB tip the more I like it for CB control in the jumpshot.

All jumpshots need to be practised. All folks have their preference. Yes phenolic or hard materials get the CB off the table but then control needs to be considered. For me the criteria of a good jumpcue are:

1. Light weight
2. Longer length for accuracy
3. Leather tip for CB control

The Stealth offers this.

Jack Kompan of Mystick Cues out of San Antonio makes, IMO, about best jump cue around and I have tried most of them.

As I stated in another post, when I was in Vegas a few weeks ago, during one match, I made a few jump shots with one being a very tight off angle shot. After the match, three people can up and asked me how they could get their hands on one.

It's called a "Jumping Jack". It has a purple heart shaft with a G10 glass ferrule and tip.

Jack is a good guy, easy to deal with and stands 100% behind his product. Give him a call @ (210) 404-9852. I think you won't be dissappointed.

I bought one after I was jumping this shot and I actually made it with a dart stroke. The thing jumps great and the one I bought has some weight to it. It simply jumps very very well. I am now going to push out to jump shots, seriously. I have tried many others and this one is the nuts so far. The new Predator jump cue jumped well but the weight turned me off as far as waiting for it to be released.

Eric.
