I consider myself new to az, But seems recently some scams, attempted scams, ALOT OF Disappointments with sales, buyers, purchases...
Is it alright to request 3 or 4 Good references from a potential buyer of a cue or case ???
Thanks

Hmmm

Well, I don't think that you would need references from the buyer if they have to send payment first. I think that the seller may need to have a good reputation, or might need some references.

If I am buying from a reputable seller, or someone that can be verified as a reputable seller, then I have no problem of sending a payment. The seller doesn't have to worry as much about the payment considering that most sellers wait until payment is received to send out the product. So, as long as the seller can be trusted, I think that would be fine....

thats one of the reasons there is a buyers/sellers thread. Now if people would actually use it. You can search it fairly quickly by username and get back the opinions of others about who you are selling or buying from.

I don't mind giving references when I'm buying or selling, and I have tried to ask those people I'll give as a reference if they mind me giving out their name.

I would agree with these comments

I think asking for references is fine for either party. I never ship anything without recieving payment upfront (unless I've done multiple transactions with somebody).

But, it's pretty easy to search the buyer/seller thread or simply do a quick search on the wanted/for sale thread for the individual you are considering doing business with.....it's pretty easy to get a feel for who your dealing with on AZ if they've done business here before.

This is the internet -- you should always use caution -- ask alot of questions and be as safe as possible ;)

I am new to AZ and I am selling a cue to a guy. Since I am a newbie he is requiring that I send the stick before he sends payment. I can understand where he is coming from by getting burned twice by new members. I hate it that people have to be so stupid to screw somebody over on this site or any other site for that matter. I am trying to build my rep and it is really hard for someone to build a good rep without doing some things that he or she doesn't like to do. Like sending out a stick before you recieve the money for it. If people are on here to scam others out of hard earned money I think they need to be beat with a warped cue. HONESTY goes a long way!!!! I am glad I have met a few nice and honest people on here.

Yes its kind of hard when you are new. I myself havent been around AZ for a long time but do my due dilligence whenever entering any transaction.

I am big on ebay, regardless of some opinions on this site. Especially on high end cues, there is always is caution, when dealing with strangers. There are some great sellers here as well, that I wouldnt hesitate to buy from either.
