Orcullo, if he beats Corey again today, is the best one-pocket player in the world! When he beat Shane playing one pocket in their all-around TAR match, people wrote it off as a fluke. Now, here is Orcullo again, demonstrating he is the greatest one-pocket player!

This week. You can pretty much rotate the top few players in the "best" "number 1" "greatest" slot week by week or maybe month by month.

Soon as someone comes in 1st or 2nd in every event they enter for a year, now that would be a #1 player in the world.

Top 5

Who are the top 5 then, in order? Is Scott Frost in there, after the whoopin' Alex put on him for 20k?

There are too few on pocket events to render an adequate judement as to who is best. No doubt Orcullo is one of the best and could well be the best at this time, certainly in rotation based games.

talkin' one pocket

Just talkin' one pocket here. Corey won Derby City one pocket, right? And here he is in the finals. But since Orcullo shut Corey out yesterday, Orcullo is the favorite today.

Based on his convincing win over SVB, and his convincing win over Corey yesterday, Orcullo has demonstrated he is no. 1. So he is tops on the list.

Alex beat Busty convincingly, and demolished Scott Frost, so he gets the no. 2 spot.

SVB comes in at no. 4. Then Busty. So here are the world one-pocket rankings:

1. Orcullo
2. Pagulayan
3. Deuel
4. SVB
5. Busty

As I said, this week hehe. Shane could beat him two times next week.

I think that even if a guy wins every one pocket tournament in the world, he still might not be the best one pocket player in the world. These super-aggressive shooters are not great one pocket players, rather just great shooters. If you shoot a shot you're never supposed to shoot and make it, because of your potting/banking/whatever skills, you're just a good shooter or incredibly lucky and IMO a bad ONE POCKET player, because you shot the wrong shot... Possibly even without seeing/knowing the "correct" shot...

Best one pocket player

Who is the best one pocket player (that didn't show up)? Inquiring minds want to know.

Re "real" one pocket players, you may well be right, but you sound just like JJ announcing. He tried to ruin the one pocket match between, I think it was Pagulayan and Busty. I think guys from your "school", that is the old school, fail to render proper respect and props to the uber-talented, like SVB, Pagulayan, Alcano (JJ tried to ruin his 10 ball match for me too), etc.

Btw, Efren used to be the best. He is not a favorite to win now, but his creativity is immortal.

Efren is still the best one pocket player. He may not have the stamina he once had, but still plays the best. Watch the TAR match with SVB and see for yourself.

Did Dennis and Shane play an all-around on TAR? I remember Efrem beating Shane on TAR in 1p not Dennis? Wasn't but a couple of weeks ago Shane and Dennis played on POV gambling and Shane won.

If you make the ball and win, isn't that the correct shot? You may be able to get away with one lucky shot, but not over and over if you are a bad player to be able to win a pro tournament.

Are you saying to be a good one pocket player you can never shoot a shot under 50% or have to be a bad shooter so you need to bunt the balls around more?

It is kind of hard to validly argue such a point- if a guy always wins, it is kind of strange to say he isn't the best, even if he doesn't "know" what he is doing.

deciding the best one pocket player isn't as tough as deciding the best 9 ball but still tough nonetheless. However if you go through most one pocket brackets you'll see some common names towards the end. Its usually Orcollo, SVB, Alex, Frost, Corey and a few more. Just depends on the day who gets the right roles and who capitalises on them.

I tend to believe the best is the one who is the best when gambling
So many things can factor in a tournament setting. I think Alex may be the best just watching how he drilled Scott so quickly in the ahead set.
