ordering cue sticks

Over the last 38 years I've ordered 7 cue sticks from various, but well known makers, and was consistently lucky to get a stick within an ounce of what was ordered. I know for a fact what the weights were/are because early on I was working in the mailroom of a large company and the scales had to be right by federal law. Today, I have an electronic scale I use. My assumption has always been that the makers figure the customer won't know difference anyway, so what the heck. What has your experiences been?

I'm newly registered and this is my first post so I apologize that's it's a bit of a rant.

Sorry, but I don't quite understand your problem. Have you now ordered a cue and the cuemaker did not deliver the cue with the correct weight?

Yeah, within the last couple of years, I've ordered 3 low priced sticks by today's standards. The maker made it right and I was able to add the weight but why did they ship 'em like that anyway?

It's no big deal, but it's something I've wondered about all these years.

A cue maker should make the cue exactly as you want it. If he doesn't, you can always send it back to have it worked on until you are satisfied. That is the standard practice of my two primary local cue makers, Eddie Farris and Pete Petree anyways. They always deliver.

I ordered a cue from Pete most recently, it was a cocobolo Sneaky and I told him not an ounce over 19. I got exactly that. I think anywhere in between 2-3 10ths of an ounce is really, really close. If my cue has weighed 18.7, I'd been happy still. If it was over an ounce off, I'd've sent it back and said 'huh-uh'. That's not gonna work for me.
