Ronnie O'Sullivan has been excused from press interview requirements during the Masters at Wembley Arena. It follows a lunch last week with Sir Rodney Walker, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association chairman. O'Sullivan faces disciplinary action for retiring in the sixth frame of his UK Championship quarter-final in York last month but Walker has undertaken to write to the disciplinary committee.

Stephen Hendry reached his 16th Masters quarter-final by beating Matthew Stevens, the 2000 champion, 6-5. Hendry is aiming to add to his six Masters titles, a run which has earned him selection as the only sportsman among entertainers such as Madonna and Kylie Minogue to have his hands cast for a plaque to feature in a public square in the Wembley development.

Shaun Murphy, the 2005 world champion, beat Steve Davis 6-3. He plays Hendry in the quarter-finals.

Many fans are fed up with this talented yet temperamental guy.

All eyes now are on the 19-year-old Chinese teenage sensation Ding, who has hit 147 and gone on to eliminate UK champion Ebdon.

ill never get fed up from watching ronnie playing. never ever...

remember Alex Higings, if he was playing in these times, he would have broken every record of undisciplined behaviour, but MAN id love to watch this guy play again in a big tournament with some alcohol in his blood :D

But, i got to agree, ding is a VERY strong favorit, and i love this guy too. im not so crazy about calm and reserved players, but MAN can he play.

my favorit final: ronnie vs Ding....

Ding just brushed aside Lee and will take on the Legendary Hendry in the semi.
Ding's the heavier favorite though Hendry is the current world no.1.
But it will be close.

I think most people (1 billion of Chinese to say the least) now are longing for a Ding-O'sullivan final. A mouth-watering match-up indeed.

ill get the tape recorder out, and a douzen of tapes :D cuz a ronnie -ding final , is already a legendary final even before it has been played :p one that might go hill hill !! (still think ding would win on the long road... ronnie's concentration lapses will be well punished.. he'll have to give it a 110% if he wants to win it , but hey its ronnie :p)

Hey Solly, don't lose the faith! Ronnie will com out on top, and you'll only need one tape.

well depends :)

its best of 19, so 19 frames with a average of 20min /frame... could be a 400min match.

just need to check at what time it is, i ALWAYS miss with the hour differences.

about ronnie, like they said, its all about wich ronnie turns up :D the best player in the world or... silly ronnie :D

Ding beat Hendry 6-2 in the semi.
A closer match than the scoreline suggests.
Ding proved he can play defenvise too, though Hendry had the upper hand.
But Hendry's potting failed him when chances came up.

Ding's been in top form. I tip him to be the champion.
And I believe Ding deservs the trophy because he has really set the tournament alight this year.

Ronnie just tied it at two all, Solly might need two tapes after all. A century and a 99 so far.

Rocket Ronnie is playing devastatingly good. He's won the last four frames, now leading 4-2 looking to go 5-2 with another incredible clearance. Back to the one-tape scenario.
Edit: Human after all, Ronnie missed. Might be 4-3 after all.

I told ya. Ronnie was in imperial form and apart from the first two frames when Ronnie was still warming up, Ding never really got a chance. What a display.

Hey Solly,

You sure missed one great display! Were you out playing our something? Ronnie lost the first two, but in the next five frames he missed the grand total of one shot. That led to 4-3 instead of 5-2. After that it was one way traffic, you know how Ronnie can get sometimes, this was one of those times. Sorry you missed it, your girl better get you tickets for the World Championships to make up for it.

gr. Dave

well we made a deal.

next time he will be playing in amsterdam in weert, she HAS to buy me tickets to go see him !!!

yeah, i was playing in leuven in a housetournament. i played there last year some matches, but didnt participate in all. i think if i dont miss any of the 10 tournaments, i could end in the top5 or even top3 at the end.

Ronnie

Ronnie was in top form all the way through. In absolute complete control. He won 10 out of the last 11 frames. at 9 to 3, Ding started to cry as they went to break. Ronnie put his arm around him to console him on the way out. When they came back Ding was still a little wet in the eyes but Ronnie just put on the show. Some dipshit in the audience was yelling all the time and even Ronnie took offense to it.
Ronnie was the man last night and the engine was running on all cylinders.
Right handed, left handed he just completely dominated Ding and Ding couldn't handle it or the crowd.
IMHO When Ronnie has the engine running has there ever been anybody better ????? He is just awesome..
