Ronnie O'Sullivan limped through tied for third with two others with only two wins, three losses. Ronnie gets through with a better winning percentage.
Ronnie gained some great experience here by surviving.I think the longer he hangs around the tougher he may become.

For the sake of my pool, someone please stick a fork in this guy.:D

I am so curious to see him play, they filmed his match with Johnny I think?
He looks sooooooooo English! I could see Oliver Reed (if he was still alive and younger) playing him, or I could see Ronnie playing Bill Sykes in an rival of Oliver!

He may need more than divine intervention to survive the next round. If I figured it correctly his bracket includes Bustamante, Hann, Deuel and Karl Boyes. He better become as good an 8 ball player as he is a snooker player overnight. (I will be cheering for him because if he is successful at 8 ball it could help to make the whole IPT a big success.)

I went to bed with Ronnie on 1 win needing a miracle - I can't believe this!!!

To get through his first group and then finish above McKenna, Storm and Daulton, wow! These are great names in pool, and lets not forget Ronnie was 6:3 against McKenna before snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! :)

Make no mistake the UK press and live coverage is mainly down to the likes of Ronnie. If he makes it through this round I'm going to wrestle an action man! :D

If only he didn't break like a girl.....

ROFL - thought you said you went to bed with Ronnie..... had to read that again sorry :D

Anyway your absolutely correct. He showing his quality and considering he still relatively new to american pool he done a fantastic job imo. I think his finishes are not going to be a problem here as he can finish like the best of them. The breaks in particular is what letting him down. What i found really intresting was that he was actualy annoyed he lost. In the snooker circuit there was times he was like he could not be bothered. So i am so glad this has sparked some motivation in him as he in my book is probably is amongst the best if the not the best to ever pick up a cue in the snooker world.

It was quite funny how he was sitting at the side and smirking away and just being plain friendly, really shows how down to earth Ronnie is. Great sportsmanship as Johnny was playing perfect pool and Ronnie giving out comments like.

"monster break"..."great shot"... "good shot" etc.

I will be honest, Ronnie on the snooker circuit has never been one that i like but he definietly got me rooting for him as he great to watch and probably good for pool in general.

C'Mon Ronnie

Pleased you read it right the second time lol, hopefully he'll bring some sportsmanship to the show, and saying that about Ronnie does sound odd but its all relative.

Also want to add 10 brits in to the last 60 (inc only female)!!! If you add in the two Ozzies with UK snooker background then thats 1 in 5!!! :D

I know what you mean. I have seen some of the big names show sportsmanship only when it goes their ways or suits them, before i get flamed i am not pointing to anyone in particular but there a few names that comes up time and time again for conduct.

In that match against Ronnie, there was a particular gentleman that was sitting behind Johnny chair and was obviously someone that was close to him, friend perhaps but was smirking away the whole time. What annoyed me the most was that he seemed to be laughing at Ronnie when his break was obviously no where near as good as Johnny's but nevertheless it showed just how rude someone can be.

Anyone who is there watching, can you give indications on his weak area?

How are his patterns?
How are his potting skills on tough position shots?
Etc.

Fred,

Watching his matches on Eurosport, certainly his break needs to be worked on a lot.

Something I was surprised about was the amount of time he took over looking at how to correctly run each rack out. It does seem he is focused which is always a good sign for us Ronnie fans, as we know he can crash and burn during a match at anytime :)

No problems with his potting as I would expect.

Pattern wise, he seems to take out balls well, I am not the most experienced 8-ball player so couldn't comment to a high enough level, but he doesn't seem to make trouble for himself on the table, so if he can just get tips from Johnny maybe on how to break correctly, he could start to make some headway in the game.

Not that he isn't doing so right now :)

Just wondering ... is he using his snooker cue? Or a pool cue? I read that Quinten Hann used a pool cue for the first time ever and went 4-0. Quinten is such a gifted player, he would have won world snooker championship if he hadn't let his off-table theatrics ruin his career.

It is gonna take ...

more than 'hinting' today. He is going to have to make a statement today to survive.

Most snooker players have learned that advantages of using a proper american pool cue as there things that snooker cue just couldn't do *as easily*

Tony Drago and Steve Davis have got John Paris to make them custom cues that meant to be a cross of a snooker/American pool cue.

I think Ronnie and Quinten are using proper american pool cues which is what most use when we play american 8/9 ball over in the UK.
