Fedor is in the US now, Morra is in the US now.
They take over and replace two people from the current team, what are the USA's chances then?

Gorst would definitely help- one of the best players in the world.Fedor is in the US now, Morra is in the US now.

If people want to live in the US, then they should be on the US team.Shaw and Pagulayan as well. They should just have a Mosconi World Open instead. Real sets as grueling as Matchroom or anyone else dares.
I seem to recall they both have dual citizenship. Plus the hordes of Pinoy/Asian/Euros that would give citizenship a legit go. Just specify they play 800 or better...If people want to live in the US, then they should be on the US team.
Not sure I'd want Shaw, and Alex seems to live in a lot of different places for the purpose or pool matches.
Absolutely! It's like moving to the US, and flying a foreign flag in front of everyone's face. If you want to live here and take part in the benefits (and the detriments), then represent the United States. If you cant do that, then move back to wherever it is you came from.If people want to live in the US, then they should be on the US team.

Isn't citizenship what determines what team they play for? Fedor is in the process but doesn't have it yet. Morra is not a US citizenFedor is in the US now, Morra is in the US now.

You mean what are their chances of getting deported for impersonating a US citizen???? Pretty good.Fedor is in the US now, Morra is in the US now.

Guessing you could do a 5v5 and most all of Team USA would get in on the action if you want to try and set it up.US just isn't the pool power it once was. They couldn't beat team Poland right now and none of those dudes made it on to team EU. Would be nice if the Mosconi Cup had qualifiers and US could get relegated, allowing team Philippines to take on EU this year, then the winner from the lower ranks this year is the challenger to this year's winner next year.
Technically, Mosconi Cup is an invitational, entertainment. And the decision maker is the organizer Matchroom Pool. They can dictate and come out with their rules to deem who can play for which team - do not require citizenship papersIsn't citizenship what determines what team they play for? I would vote, for tradition sake, leave the MC as is. Ok, maybe open up N. America vs. Europe. Or make it just US vs. UK. Either way.US just isn't the pool power it once was. However, I love the idea of the Reyes Cup that has been floated around here for years. The wo countries with the highest ranked top 5 play for the Reyes Cup Each year. A fella can dream.
Or if you really wanted to ramp it up, have a BCS type playoff system with North America / South America vs Europe / Mideast / Africa in one semifinal, and China / Taipei / Japan vs the Philippines / other SE Asia countries in the other, with the two winners meeting for all the cheese. That way we'd get to see pretty much all of the best players in the world.I would vote, for tradition sake, leave the MC as is. Ok, maybe open up N. America vs. Europe. Or make it just US vs. UK. I guess it would. But less than the Reyes Cup would add. And if you had a World Cup where the winner of Reyes Cup and Mosconi Cup faced off, that would be bigger.MR might be afraid that a reyes cup would water down the mosconi cup or something.
I love both these options. Reyes cup between top 2 countries with highest overall rated 5 player teams sounds great. Also making team USA team North America so it is continent vs continent is sweet too cuz then our side gets Pagulayan for sure and maybe Morra or Horluffson who is now back to playing after a car accident derailed his career for a while. The last 2 guys are at least fighting it out for spots with the Corey Deuels, Styers, and Bergmans of the world. I think Pagulayan, SVB, and Woodward as core 3 is pretty damn solid start.I would vote, for tradition sake, leave the MC as is. Ok, maybe open up N. America vs. Europe. Or make it just US vs. UK.
