I like the pool players. Most foreign players display all the signs of recent immigration. Highly talented but still developing an understanding of America culture. If organizers were supported by corporate money that would make many people happy.
I always felt an organization or industry is a method for welcoming immigrants. The industry is just a vehicle and the people in it are the drivers. Some drivers push people to make money, other drivers push people too accept circumstances but there are a few that drive to explore. There are few explorers.
I felt the recent immigrants could help natives understand their own situation for its advantages and disadvantages. In order for them to do that they would have to feel comfortable discussing those things. Some of the players I have met are from communities where those things are not discussed, which is the first challenge to overcome.
Some of the players are from countries with weaker economic conditions than the US. However they have values which are fundamental to good living which may not always be visible in America due to the strong economic conditions.
An industry is a great place to trade values with people of other cultures. However that can easily be overshadowed by the deliverance of unimaginable wealth.
Where do the players want to take the community in 150 years from now? When retirement is necessary and all that is left is a new generation of hustlers.
