Is ox bone some kind of code for ivory on ebay? I see a lot of listings for "ox bone" carom balls and they look like ivory to me. Some of the listings show the "caution" label in the top of the ball box saying to take care of and treat ivory balls properly. Thanks for your help and answers guys, Tom

Hello out there...I'm really interested in cue building, but at the moment lack the tone to be as involved as I'd like...granted, i knew relatively little, but i would really like to be able to clean shafts, put in tips, possibly try see different tapers on shafts, etc...so could anyone give me ideas of a good lathe to start out small with...not really sure where to start looking ...thanks in advance for all the help....

"Ox Bone" may be a way of getting around ebays ivory sales ban, but if you go looking for inlay slabs and they advertises "Ox Bone", then ox bone is what you will get. If you want ivory colored inlay material that is not Elephant Ivory, then Camel bone would be a better option to look into. At about $1.50 per square inch for 3/16" x 7/8 x 8 inch slabs, it is a good substitute for Ivory.
