P2 weight bolt help

I recently bought a predator P2 cue here on the forums. The butt weighs 14.6oz. I would like to add an ounce of weight. I took the bumper off, expecting to find a 3/8x16 hole for a weight screw, and instead I find this. There is a piece of gold colored metal down in there with no holes for an Allen wrench or a screwdriver to remove it. Does anyone know what it is, how it may have gotten there, and how to get it out? I don't think it's original to the cue because I had a p2 a while back and it had a normal 3/8x16 bolt. The diameter of the metal appears to be close to 7/16". There also appears to be some type of cement around the inside of the butt above the gold metal. No idea what that is either. Anyone ever seen this before or have ideas/suggestions? Thanks for any help!

That's a new one for me. The gold metal is probably brass but I have no idea why there would be no head for installation/removal. Interesting....

It looks like it may be threaded. If it is you could try drilling a hole in the middle of it and use an easy-out to back it out. If that did not work about all that is left would be to drill it completely out to a larger diameter, tap it and install a larger weight bolt. Good luck!

+1

Looks like the drill man has already had a go at it.

That's what scares me. There had to be a 'good' reason someone tried to drill it as opposed to just taking it out and trying to cut the bottom of the bolt. What it stuck? Is it something that was added and not able to remove?

<~~I'm interested.

Well, I'm interested also but it my be in vain.
That's not a factory installation, meaning it was done by someone out in the world.
Until they come forward and inform us as to what their reasoning was, we can only speculate.
In the end it doesn't matter, you've got what you've got. Now let's see if we can help you.
The 'gold' metal that you have in there is brass, one of the heaviest metals we use in cues.
I think it's safe to say that the intend was to add wght. to the cue. Now you want 1oz more.
So, add it (or have it done) using the same type metal you have in there in the same fashion,
epoxy it in. There may be enough of a void that a brass slug of that size may be close to an oz.
If it's not enough, try lead in the form of a fishing wght.
Mold it with a hammer or similar tool to size and glue it in; end of story.
Both metals are considered soft so they can be easily drilled-out should you need to adjust further.
