Took a quick pic showing the 156 tables before they get swallowed by the crowd. A larger version is HERE.

I hope this new venue works out. I am sure your photo doesn't incorporate everything, but it did not look like there was much room for seating. Thanks for posting the pic Bob.

Off topic, I have always wondered why there are never any real sales of cues and cases and other stuff at states. Does VNEA restrict the vendors? With so many pool players there, I would think people would be killing to try to sell stuff at the tourney.

Our VNEA state is next week (indiana) and we have a bunch of vendors setup in the hallways that make a killing, plus its half the fun of going is buying gizmos and gadgets.

Also I agree with the no seating! It would SUCK to have to be in a team event and ur team is playing in the middle of that crammed mess! Good luck!

more details

It's a LOT more spacious than the previous venue & we got along fine there.

Also, consider that after the first round, fewer tables are in use so there is even more room - but it's standing room. I'm sure there will be additional seating areas provided but only the help was there today & nobody knew nuthin' for sure.

There will be plenty of vendors set up - probably in the main hallway.

Dave Pearson will be doing a Speed Pool event & it's rumored that Jeanette Lee might stop in one day.

Event is being held HERE.

And more info is HERE.

The local VNEA charter holder - who runs the event every year - restricts vendors, not the VNEA. If you're willing to pony up the fees, probably anybody is welcome. But western PA players are notoriously tight-fisted & quality merchandise would be pawed over but not sold.

Are you going to be there? Singles? What is your team? I'll look you up when I stop in. I'll be in & out as I do a lot of work from home during this event.

We are Deadstroke-Aeillo from country mountain amusements. We are in A. We are all shooting singles.

Boy did I screw up. I met a guy there tonight who introduced himself as Corey Braden & I thought it was you. I see that it wasn't.

I haven't played at States in almost 10 yrs but I remember playing the Dead Stroke team several times. If you played back then, I'm sure we met. I captained the team from Snoozie's for many yrs & Grippe's before that.

FWIW, we won A teams in '99. We won the winners side, putting Blackies (from Sharon) in the losers bracket. Blackies beat Rack'n'Roll to win the losers side, then we beat Blackies in the finals. Blackies team consisted of Ralph Chomer, Brian Alfredo, Jackie Palmer, Marty Lawson & Fat Jack LeCamera.

Maybe I'll see you on Saturday.

My son's team, Odis 12 (last yr), won A last yr & will be defending tomorrow.

I thought the Convention Center worked out pretty well, for the 1st year, with the normal issues still there.
The biggest complaint I have heard is the same as always. Players want a greens fee instead of feeding tables.
Lighting was surprisingly good.
Great players as usual and nice job by Warner Coin, including fast posting of final results.
Already looking forward to next year
